This is your chance to take a peek into the workings of the permaculture teacher's process.

Tim Barker is the permaculture instructor for the Permaculture Design Course at wheaton labs, May/June 2017. This pdf contains 174 pages of Tim's teaching notes!

Tim's bio:

Tim has come a long way since his days as a diesel fitter mechanic, and now spends his time between Australia and New Zealand (and sometimes the US) as a semi professional pyromaniac and mad scientist teaching people how to burn stuff and make really cool machines and devices for low carbon living. He currently teaches appropriate technology for the Koanga institute in New Zealand and Very Edible Gardens (VEG) in Melbourne, to name a few.

He has previously been farm manager for the Permaculture research Institute of Australia, power station operator/mechanic, adventure guide and professional turtle wrestler. His rocket stove and char making powered hot water systems, ovens and cookers reflect his passion for elegant simple and durable combustion technologies. Other projects include gravity powered water pumps, solar thermal cookers and dryers, pedal powered washing machines, cargo bikes, hovercraft, wooden boats and aquaponics, to name a few. When he is not tinkering he can be found on Macleay Island off the coast of Queensland Australia, where he and his family live and are currently in the process of building a rammed earth house (with maybe a little sailing thrown in).

He is particularly well known for his safe and effective rocket hot water heating system. He brings practical, hands on experience with some truly fascinating projects to the table - this from the Koanga institute:

"He has the practical knowledge and skills to construct almost any project with limited resources."

Here is the table of contents - and it's jam packed:

Downloaded for me without issue, a 174 page pdf.

This is super cool!  It's got live weblinks to define terms (at Wikipedia, mostly) and SO much useful information.  Lots of color illustrations.

Thanks!

Also downloaded without any problems. Yhanks a million, this is going to be really helpful while watching the videos, and, I suspect, just to read by themselves.

I am not sure where to find the PDF file. Feeling a bit stupid asking this since many of you have been successful.

Not sure who to contact about this specifically to help me get my apparent mistakes resolved. Of note, I was registered before but registered with a new email for the Kickstarter at $200.
I logged in with my original email and added my new email as a secondary and successfully merged. I only see the payment button and no PDF.

The merge feature is very, very new so there might be a couple of bugs in it that need ironing out yet.

It might be worth posting in the support thread to draw Paul's attention to the problem - https://permies.com/t/66358/kickstarter-rewards-testing  ooops, there's a dedicated thread, try this one - https://permies.com/t/66730/kickstarter-support-pdc-teacher-notes

I also don't know how to get it. I can see the large box at the bottom of the first post, but that links me through to paypal where I would have to pay for it, which as I understand it, having supported the kickstarter, I don't need to.
could have posed this on the help thread but thought it made more sense to follow on from Richard's post. Thanks.

Mind keeps halting mid-download with the error message "file security check failed" (Chrono Download Manager in Chrome).  It appears that it doesn't like the fact that it has the docx and pdf extension in the name (ie. ".docx.pdf" at the end).  I tried removing the .docx part of the file name when downloading, but the original file name from the site seems to be giving me grief.

When I tried to download it using Internet Explorer, it told me that it contained a virus and was deleted.  I'm guessing it's just upset about the file extensions as well.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

I renamed the file so you can try again.

Hmmm....  It's still giving me the same errors in both browsers, so I guess it wasn't the extension.  I'll have to try it from a different computer later.  The error messages really aren't giving me much to go on.  IE says that it contains a virus, but there are no clues given as to what about the file, specifically, is triggering the error.

Obviously I haven't had a chance to read the entire Course Notes yet, but while browsing it I have noticed an empty page. I'm just wondering if it is the fault of my PC (like not being able to display image on this page) or this page is just empty. No problem if it is the latter. The empty page number is 139. Overall, great stuff, I will post a review as soon as I read it all.

I give it 8 out of 10 acorns so far.

I downloaded it to read later.
But wanted to look at one area that I found in the table of contents.
Didn't get to the page I wanted to read yet.
I started reading after the table of contents and I couldn't put it down, and am on page 38.
So much applies to life itself. Talk about the interconnections of it all.
Very cool
D.

PS: I'm new to this site. Just started with the Kickstarter and signed up.
Can anyone tell me what the purple pie is about in the right hand corner?
I couldn't find that, or missed that information.
Thanks

Using a different computer and network solved the problem.  I guess it must have been a firewall or virus protection setting or something along those lines.  I have it now.

I'm not sure if it is worth wasting your time Paul, but just for the record, here is how it looks like.

139 is blank for me too and page 156 is blank also.  I don't notice that anything's missing though.

...great read!
