! the first wofati - allerton abbey- version 0.7

I had a chat with stephen about total calories harvested within the allerton abbey fence from 2024. Probably 80% of the food needs for one person for a full year.

We have so many food bearing trees planted in there, that I think it will be four times that in four years.

We're staying at Allerton Abbey for the week as SEPPers, and finding it both enjoyable and challenging in some ways. There's some maintenance needed, but I don't think that's real high on the priority list at the moment, since bootcamp labor force is limited.

The front door has either shifted over the years, and/or the threshold has swollen from moisture, but in any case, it no longer looks like the early photo showing the small gap at the bottom. It was very hard to close initially when we arrived, so we picked up a cheap chisel set, and I pared away at the threshold, until the door at least opened & closed without excessive force required.  It has dug into & gouged the floor over time, but I'm not sure what, if anything I can do about that in the short-term.

Later on, my wife grabbed the staple gun that was sitting on the table, and attacked the weather stripping that was loose too, and tomorrow, I'll try to sort out what's wrong with the water pumping system for the hydrants outside...

The Rocket stove there is also in need of some TLC, as the intake is cracked and chunks are on the virge of falling off. I was told that it was "just cob", but it's been fired enough times, that the clay content has become pottery, not cob, and it can't be repaired by adding water and smoothing it over. Still pondering what best to do about that...

The surface finish still has bits of straw or whatever showing, so that part could be refinished with water, assuming it is not augmented with lime. I see gritty patch material from previous repair attempts. A fine clay/sand mix could be worked into the cracks rather than just plastered over the area, and possibly be more durable. I would try to burnish any patching when stiff but not dry to make it as dense as possible.
