Make a Moth or Pest Repellent Sachet - nest.straw.repellsachet

We have a basement cupboard full of winter clothes. I have noticed the odd common clothes moth down there, so was keen to make this.

I used cloves and cinnamon sewn into a piece of fabric I harvested from an old shirt.

I could have hand sown, but wanted to practice using a machine.

It's now installed in the basement cupboard.

Piece by piece, I am converting my clothes from what I culturally was supposed to wear to what I really want to wear.
That means: goodbye synthetics, welcome natural fibers!
But moths are with millions where I live. Let's see if my new repellent sachet scares them away from my merino wool socks :-)

Materials used:
- linen fabric
- cotton thread
- cloves

How I did it: Folded the fabric in two, sewed the left and the right side, turned the little sachet inside out (actually; outside in), sewed the upper side until just enough space left for the cloves to go through, put the cloves in, closed the upper part. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle to spread the cloves.
Done!
Now wait a minute... This is a bit of a mystery sachet to those who are not familiar to the clove aroma, and it looks a bit boring too... Let's add some info, and color!

I made two sachets, one with cloves and a cinnamon stick and one with dried lavender leaves. I read that all three repel moths/insects. I have a silk scarf that I will store one with in my closet.

Stink bugs like to join us in our cozy warm house in the winter. Over night temps are starting to drop so i made little bags to put mint in and hang them by each window and door.
