There is literally rice on the floor of my car?! Vacuumed the whole thing, used an interior car cleaner to wipe down center console and other bits, and a Grove window cleaner and spray bottle to wipe down window.

After removing all the flotsam and jetsam from the interior I used a shop vac on the inside of the vehicle. I took the rugs inside and vacuumed. The windshield was cleaned using a rags and spray bottle with 1:1 ratio white vinegar and water.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - clean vehicle interior
     - PROPER cleaning of windshield

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
  - a before picture of the dirty interior of the car
  - an action shot of the windshield being cleaned
  - an after picture of clean interior of the car
  - a description of the cleaners and how they were used
  - OR a 2-minute video of you doing this

I used a bucket of hot water with a bit of Castile soup, homemade window cleaner (vinegar and orange essential oil), Dyson vacuum cleaner, stiff brush, a couple of cleaning cloths and a couple of old tea towels for drying surfaces.

I let my Dad have my car while I was gone for a 9 month trip overseas. This is what I got back to and was definitely not acceptable in my opinion!

Note: You're missing one requirement:    - a description of the cleaners and how they were used. Also, from the Nest badge page: This badge places a heavy emphasis on cleaning without toxic commercial cleaners.  I kind of doubt that spray is "permie" enough.  Perhaps wait until the windshield is dirty and try non-toxic cleaners and repost along with the rest of the interior pics?

Ohsoji (End of the year cleaning) Task 3 - Clean Car Interior

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - clean vehicle interior
     - PROPER cleaning of windshield

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
  - a before picture of the dirty interior of the car
  - an action shot of the windshield being cleaned
  - an after picture of clean interior of the car
  - a description of the cleaners and how they were used
  - OR a 2-minute video of you doing this

Our car got a bit yucky after a recent outing. Some bits of food dropped here and there. Time to clean, and since it's Ohsoji, let's clean it well!

I used to do auto detailing as a summer job many years ago in a land far far away.

I used a vacuum cleaner, paper towels, and water.

Having a few attachments for the vacuum cleaner makes this sort of job much easier and more enjoyable. I vacuum everything, then remove the mats, and vacuum again. The driver's seat floor mat gets an incredible amount of dust and dirt on it. So I spend special attention to removing dust. An easy way to check is to beat it out with a futon beater and see if any dust comes off. I continued beating and vacuuming it until no more dust flew. Yay. My respiratory system will thank me.

I cleaned all the glass, but only took a few careful pictures to avoid too many revealing reflections. I also cropped out a lot of reflections.

Cleaning glass is not hard, but I find people have trouble with it. The first step is to remove the dirt. You can do this step however you want. Usually water and a rag or paper will work well. The important part is after you have removed all the dirt, you must not reapply any. You need clean rags or paper towels. It's a lot easier to clean glass with paper because it absorbs all of the water instead of pushing it around. It also doesn't leave lint. Too much water and it will saturate the paper towel and you have the same problem. The goal is to barely wet the glass and wipe it, removing all water. Leaving any water on the glass will also leave tiny particulates as it dries in place, thus you get water spots and streaks.

Oooo, ah, that's how it starts. Later there's running and screaming and tiny ads.
