Submission flagged incomplete
Cleaned our shower head with vinegar and a mini brush this evening. I gave a ziplock bag a second use - couldn't stand the thought of grabbing a brand new bag for this...

Here is my submission for the Plumbing & Hot Water Aspect - Sand for Straw (duplicate) - Clean and Decalcify a Shower Head BB.

My shower head was in need of cleaning so I took it apart and soaked the dispersal plate and the ring off and soaked them in diluted vinegar.  I also used a fingernail scrub brush to clear calcifications.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - Clean/decalcify a shower head

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must show proof of the following (as pictures or a video < 2 mins):
 - Dirty/calcified shower head operating poorly
 - Cleaning/decalcifying the shower head
 - Newly cleaned/decalcified shower head operating properly
 - A description of the method for how the shower head was cleaned/decalcified

Here, in western Ohio, the water deposits so much lime we might be able to lime wash walls by simply misting them with well water on a hot day!  As such, everyone here has a tactic for decalcifying their shower heads. I prefer to wrap the shower head in a used plastic bag filled with vinegar. Let it soak overnight. Then brush with an old toothbrush saturated in vinegar to remove any stubborn deposits. If any jets remain clogged, repeat with fresh vinegar.

The shower head in the Fischer Price House was giving off some real “Steve Buscemi in Mr. Deeds” vibes. I took the liberty of cleaning it up a bit using citric acid overnight.

I noticed my shower head was acting poorly when I tried to clean my boots the other day. So I plunged it in a jar of white vinegar and let it sit several hours. Then I scrubbed it with an old toothbrush and it works very well now!
