Happy Christmas Baking Day to you...!

More about the aforementioned Half Assed Holiday in a moment. But first, typical Boot business for today.

The new door at the Red Cabin needs a tiny curtain. So I drew up some plans for myself in an effort to wrap my head around it in a reasonable, rational fashion. Heading into town tomorrow to find some suitably classy fabric (hopefully a nice shade of red, and hopefully on discount). Drew this up in paint.net, using fancy layers, transparency, and all that.

Also took the advice of a few respondents on here, and mulched-out an area around the WilloWonka with some leftover tree bark. There will always be more coming in, it seems, so while I put a dent in our current supply I'm not worried about ever running out (...or even running low). Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Plenty more bark to go through, really.

Finally: Christmas Baking Day. I was working solo today, so the baking decisions were left up to me. I must say, the day turned out to be an absolute failure. All my baked goods are horrible and dreadful and terrible and very bad.

Keto brownies (a special request for sugar-free brownies). Ugh.

Next up: chocolate molasses cookies. Vegan and horrifying.

Third attempt: classic chocolate cookies - also vegan, and also detestable.

I should confiscate all these naughty baked goods and subject myself to punishment by eating every last crumb of the whole ruddy lot. Serves me right.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

looking for input on the first version of the design. Here's the picture I submitted.

Hinged for folding? Stand as zigzag for greater stability?

I was thinking of hinges. We have some 12-foot boards here and I'm loath to cut them shorter, though storage would be an issue. I think I am avoiding the creation of a full frame - like I had shown in my initial design - in favour of a design focusing more on fabric layers. Still thinking on it at the moment.

Ran into town on errands with Toots (our passenger van). Oil change complete.

Also picked up some fabric for the Red Cabin's new door. At $4 a yard, I could grow accustomed to this... I'm strongly-considering replacing the other curtains in the Cabin to match with this. It should be mounted on the door tomorrow.

Also had time in the afternoon to test out a diamond hole-cutter drill bit that Paul found for us. I brought out the previous ceramic plant pot I drilled holes in to see how things would react. Though I have concerns for the longevity of the hole-cutter, it definitely does the job.

Finally: someone showed us some Boots Love. I have a feeling I know who it is... Thanks, Eliot!!!

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!

So I've had a penpal in the Czech Republic for over four years now. We're good friends, though we've never met. This year she surprised me by sending me an ornament for the Christmas tree, and I was happy to add it to our decorations.

It's not been very cold lately, but it has been foggy. This is very different from December last year, where by this time, I think we were crunching through about two feet of snow.

I finished and hung the tiny curtain in the Red Cabin today. Tomorrow I plan on braving the fabric store to see how much of that fabric is left... Hopefully enough to make two large curtains to match.

Finally: I was humbled and pleased when Dez not only agreed to try out a tabletop game that I've designed, but also enjoyed it, playing it through to conclusion (I'm pretty sure he beat my personal high score, too!). This is the "roll n' write" game I intend to bring to Kickstarter early next year.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day...!
