It's a way to learn about giveaways, get freebies, and find out about awesome threads on permies that are full of good info, and a way for you to learn permaculture and homesteading. It's full of avenues to make a better world by doing good things instead of being angry at the bad guys.
what does daily-ish mean?
We have so much stuff to share about the world of permaculture that we send out an email just about everyday in an effort to spread as much of this information as far and wide as possible. These emails are curated by a wonderful group of permies.com users and volunteers and cover all aspects of permaculture. In any given month, there will be something like 30 emails that go out, but some days will have none and other days will have three. Thus the "ish"!

We wish to have so many people signed up to my dailyish email that we're capable of using our strength as a group to make some serious impact on the world through permaculture. To meet this goal, Paul and the permies community are giving away tons of free stuff to folks who are signed up for the daily-ish. Immediately after signing up, you'll begin receiving free items from our community including rocket mass heater plans, videos, podcasts, ebooks and bunches of other stuff. From time to time we also give away tickets to events, online summits and conferences. Folks who are signed up to the daily-ish also have the opportunity to win books, tools, DVDs as well as other items from our online partners.

Here's some of the things that we give away to folks who are signed up to our daily-ish email. These items and much more are frequently provided to you for free because you are signed up for the daily-ish emails. New free things are being added all the time.
We're worried that people will just unsubscribe after they get their free stuff, and well, that makes for quite a transient army for changing the world for good. Can't have that! So, if you stay signed up for the dailyish, here are some things we may be throwing your way in the near future.

Wait, it says I can subscribe for other types of emails, too? What do all those gibberish terms (Permaculture stuff, PNW stuff, Missoula stuff, and World Domination stuff) mean?
Permaculture stuff: Paul tries to put out one new thing a day. A video, a podcast, an article, etc. Sometimes, he goes a week or two without anything new. Sometimes there's three new things in one day.
PNW stuff: Paul finds that he travel through Oregon, Washington and Idaho a lot. If he's going to be speaking or looking for video opportunities or just coming through an area, he'll post something here. I suspect that this is something where he won't post anything for a month or two, and then put out two or three posts in a week.
Missoula stuff: Since Paul lives in Missoula, Montana, he has stuff to announce here a couple of times per week. It might be an announcement of a presentation he will be giving, or of a new video he has about something in Missoula, or an upcoming workshop he's involved in.
World domination stuff: Learning how to get our message out more requires us to constantly learn - so sometimes Paul will ask people "go to this website, click on X, and we'll see what happens when a bunch of us do that." While most of this sort of thing happens in the tinkering forum, some folks don't wanna check into the tinkering forum every day. So this makes for an easy way to let folks know that we are attempting to do something. I suspect that a month will pass without anything on this list - and then he'll send out one or two in a week.
Because we like to spread permaculture and make the world a better place, we give away a lot of other free stuff without even being on the email list.
- we are trying to shift the dailyish away from "the paul wheaton show" and to the "permies.com community show"
- when we used aweber, the dailyish grew by 300 to 1000 people per month. But when we shifted to in-house stuff, growth stopped. It has been more than five years and we are still trying to mend this.
- I think that the dailyish is our most powerful tool for community growth and world domination

I have tried to access a permies site from the daily-ish email and the site says that I do not have sufficient privileges. I had this problem once before and R. replied to empty the cache and browsing history. It worked then but unfortunately not today. Any clues why? The email and screen shot attached.

The idea of it "let's hear some personal stories" was a good one, but it just devolved into a bunch of generalities and cross monologuing that it couldn't be saved and got carefully tossed on the compost pile.
tldr: didn't meet publishing standards and got composted.

the unsubscribe link (“to unsubscribe or fiddle with your email settings: https://permies.com/e/307915t36888274”) not actually removing my email from the daily msg list … after the link goes to modify the login and modify settings screen … I updated my preferences to exclude daily and after approximately a week the daily is still landing in my in-box.

It’s odd …after dinking around a bit it looks like the forum login thinks I’m two different people both under the exact same email … my real account that for some reason I can’t access is Erick Miller(alias) gmail addy but when I logged in under the saved email password it didn’t display my alias or let me post here … it asked for a real sounding name …so I entered another alias under the same gmail addy (Bob Wilson) …I imagine this is part of the reason the unsubscribe isn’t working either…. But that’s just a guess
Erick Miller is the real account with all the "stuff" and unlocks
The Bob one was the "fake" one I had to make so I could post a message... to try for a fix ... You can delete Bob or merge it whatever is most convenient

The dailyish tends to churn out more messages when there is a kickstarter going on. Lots of things happening quickly and a need to get the word out in a timely manner.
I just took a quick look ... there have been 8 dailyishes in the last 10 days.
Of course, there have been some weeklyishes and some monthlyishes.
About ten years ago, when the dailyish was young, I remember I would sometimes go a week without sending something. And other times I would send out three in one day.
Overall, I like the idea that we get to the point that we put out about 32 dailyishes in a 30 day period. And they are good enough that people would be open to even more.
I just logged on for the first time in a while, and I clicked on the view recent dailyish link. I think it is cool that I can now scroll back and see previous dailyisheseses (sorry got stuck there!) as well.
Something Paul said one time made me thing of the daily-ish as a newspaper.
Not everyone has the time or inclination to scroll through hundreds of posts all the time. The daily-ish brings all the best threads and posts right in our inboxes. I, personally, love it.

All you need to do is go to your settings (https://permies.com/forums/user/edit/) and scroll down to email settings, and unsubscribe from the emails you don't want.
If you want to close your account and cease to get any emails, you just need to click the link in your profile. I took a screenshot of it for you, below.
If you ever decide you want to reopen your account, you can chose which emails you want. For the least emails, just be subscribed to the Monthlyish email newsletter.
I hope that helps!
P.S. I unsubscribed you from all emails, so you don't need to worry about it. You can log in and fiddle with your settings again if you decide that you wish to receive emails again.
