I've just been doing all sorts of stuff to take down lots of ads.  There is a lot more to do, but I'm sure you all understand.

A few minutes ago I was certain we would not touch 118, but at the last minute HEAPS of people jacked that right up!

If anybody has suggestions on how to have a lovely kickstarter in the future, please let us know!

Dave de Basque wrote:Congrats on another great Kickstarter!! I'm glad for the moment I'm in with the earlybirds! I have my confirmation from Kickstarter and everything. I'm just hoping I don't have a problem later like last time... My EU credit card tends to reject things that don't go through the "3D Strong Customer Authentication" gateway, which normally opens when I hit "pay" on websites here, but on Kickstarter it failed to do so once again, and I'm worried I'll be getting a "payment failed" message soon.

Any Euro-permies here that are experienced tricking out Kickstarter to cooperate and open up the verification gateway? I'm on a Mac and use Safari and Firefox. Thanks if any tips.

BTW for stretch goals, I'm interested in footage of any courses at Wheaton Labs or elsewhere, especially of the Low-tech variety.

Hi Dave!
I am a fellow Euro-permie and I remembered reading your message a few weeks ago.
Did your payment go through this time?

With this Kickstarter, I am in trouble too (the previous 2 I backed went smoothly).
Yesterday, I got an e-mail from Kickstarter saying 'Oh no! Your pledge was declined by the card provider.'
Reason: Your card does not support this type of purchase.
Tried to fix on the Kickstarter website itself. Alas, it didn't help.
Reason: The card has been declined for an unknown reason.

I contacted my bank peoples, hopefully they have some grey matter to figure it out within 6 days!

Hopefully you had no problems this time!

Cannot wait for this movie! Wish I had gotten into this sooner, but have been strictly limiting screen time and media and mostly deleting my emails after a glance.   Will have to look at some closer, at least the ones from permies deserve a moment or two!

I'm hopeful because I haven't had any strange messages from Kickstarter or the bank yet, I'll cross my fingers.

Last time I called the online bank, went into my branch, contacted Kickstarter, everything... but no dice. Kickstarter knows about the Euro payment gateway and supposedly their card-charging service (Stripe?) supports it, but for some reason, the required payment gateway never kicks in for me from the Kickstarter site. This time, no weird messages yet -- what is it I'm supposed to be doing, oh yeah, I'm visualizing success.

I wish I could tell you I did anything differently this time, but I didn't that I know of -- seems down to luck. Or maybe all the crying I did last time got through and someone flipped the appropriate switch. Who knows? Good luck next time!

Well, just to update... SUCCESS!! It looks like the "visualizing success" worked... Kickstarter has confirmed they got my money, so, hopeful message to fellow Euro types... it might just work, go for it!

You can pre-order the movie here, if you didn't get to back the kickstarter this time around:

https://permies.com/w/lowtech

Or the movie and plans bundle here:

Here is the Low Tech Lab movie kickstarter support forum for those whose payments have gone through (and who KS have told us about at this stage - i.e. if you've just sorted out your payment with KS it make take a little bit longer for them to relay this info to us and for us to get your into the forum )

https://permies.com/f/498/tech-laboratory-support

If you have any queries about Kickstarter support and can't get into the forum above - here is another support option that is public:

I must have passed my luck to you, I am very happy to hear that it worked out for you this time!

My bank gave me a no. I tried to solve it, but I got another no and then I tried it again using another strategy, but no...
So I am missing out on this one... Didn't have anything to do with KS, it was a peculiarity of the bank itself.

LUCKILY, I have learned a great lesson here at permies: I am not angry! There are other way to support the permies community, so I'll just do that!
And I plan on trying again with the next KS. Can't wait!

Hello! I backed this Kickstarter but I can't find the link to the actual movie, just the interviews as well as the bonus content ($100 tier). Am I missing something or is the movie not released yet? Life got busy so I haven't kept up with the updates since the Kickstarter finished 😅

Hello Justin!

So glad you are here!
The movie will be released soon.  We are still in the polishing and editing phase.  Looking good though.  I can hardly wait!
