BB clarification thread

2 questions about the content (or lack thereof), of badge bits for larger-scale solar, like larger than the small DC solar system, but not mobile like the solar leviathan?

Where could I find normal carpentry tasks, like framing or hanging a door, or installing a window? Framing a wall? Building (framing) a house?

As for Q1, I don't know of any BBs for larger solar systems. I think that would fall into Oddball.

For Q2 there is a lot of traditional carpentry in the PEM system, but not in PEP that I'm aware of.  Permaculture Experience according to Mike

I'm considering the case where the county plants apple trees in parks so that anyone who wants them can come pick apples but they aren't given a lot of attention (like windfalls are left on the ground to rot). I think that counts as "apples that are the result of forage gardening" but none of these terms have hard definitions (maybe intentionally).

Anyway, I'm wondering if that scenario counts as foraging for purposes of PEP. I want to avoid the appearance of pulling a fast one, but if it does count, it would be a relatively easy source for me.

I think that since it's generally considered a tended space (the park), that would seem too much like a cultivated tree to be easy to approve

I noticed there was a similar situation with your hugel BB so I corrected that by deselecting the first one as a BB.

Is there a time limit on this? I have an old BB (slaughter/clean quail) that was marked edge case a couple years ago for a missing description which I edited to add. Would I need to take new pictures and redo it entirely at this point? It would look very different by now, being in a new location where I can do it indoors, so maybe it's worth the inconvenience of pausing for photos to show how my process has changed over time?

I don't think there is a time limit but fresh pix can't hurt.

I think the current stance is we'd rather have a second submission so that the failed one stays there as a lesson and the new one shows what you changed to make it pass muster.

I agree with Christopher.  A completely new submission is easier to  certify.  The original submission can be converted to an ordinary post.  We have had occasions where a BB submission goes over 2 - 3 posts and the submission becomes confused.

The thing that you can do, and I suggest, is to have a list of requirements at the beginning of the BB or printed beside you to ensure that each proof is met.  We can only certify what we can see.  Certifiers cannot make assumptions about your content or intent.  Certifiers can be from anywhere in the world and may not have your language as their first language.  It is important not to use abbreviations or local jargon (words).  Best wishes

My DiL is from Punjab and apparently, their culture prizes a pillow stuffed with mustard seed for cradling a newborn's head. I have been asked to sew the "containment" for the seed, and I'll make a couple of pillow cases for over it.

I have been asked to make it 8 1/2 x 12 which equals 102 square inches.

There was a discussion at one point about how big a round pillow needed to be to meet the requirement but it was after the fact and declared to be too small.

A quick glance suggests that the pillows are generally a minimum of 10" in each direction.

If the decision is against, I am fine with it. My DiL's cousin is a sweet lady and her first child is due in a month, so she's getting this pillow whether I can use it for a BB or not!
