THE SECRET IS OUT FOLKY FOLKS! Here is what I left permies.com for, I have been SOOOO anxious/excited to share it with all of you!

Permaculture Magazine, North America Has Launched

A little backstory, from our Our Story Page.

For the past 25 years our mother magazine, Permaculture, International, has been a bestselling green magazine in Britain and around the world. Maddy and Tim Harland co-founded it in 1992 and have since then built it into an incredibly influential reserve of practical permaculture information.

With the ever-growing interest in sustainable living, we all knew it was time to expand the network of this permaculture inspiration to North America “officially”. Maddy and Tim have been expanding their efforts worldwide for quite some time now, but didn’t have anyone actually on the ground here to move things forward. That’s where Permaculture, North America comes in! We are so honored to have started the first off-shoot of Permaculture Magazine, International, and will be published the first issue of Permaculture, North America in the spring of 2016!

This version of the magazine focused on issues relating specifically to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Following in the steps of Permaculture, International, the new version offers high-quality educational articles, reader solutions, examples of permaculture successes, connections to local workshops, and advertisements from regional businesses that operate from a triple-bottom line.

We like to think of Permaculture, North America working as a mycelial network does. Mycelium provides a way for fungi to connect and communicate with each other, offering support, even when they are very far apart. PMNA strives to be precisely that. It is a networking force that connects people and communities across the continent to enable the greater Permaculture Movement to thrive and flourish.

SO, We publish a quarterly magazine just like our mother mag, and it is VERY similar to her, just honing in more on North American content! Our website is up, and you can subscribe anytime you want!

Oh, what was that? You want us to sweeten the pot a bit? Well don't mind if I do. Each of our subscribers will get access to ALL of the UK Permaculture Magazine digital issues FOR FREE! That's 90 issues people. You. Are. Welcome. wink emoticon So yeah, check us out! Can't wait to keep building this movement and share what each of you are doing with the world!

You Can Subscribe Here!

We've got online articles up on the website, here are some of our favorites:

Great news.

The font on the web site is hard to read on Windows in Chrome. Looks like someone took a picture and scaled it down losing some detail.

I went to subscribe but Firefox told me that it is not a secured website (and no https in the url) so I didn't feel safe to enter my info. Can you make it a secure site? I would love to subscribe! And congratulations, it looks FANTASTIC! Lucky us that you did this.

I'm excited to see this come together! I subscribed ~45 minutes ago and immediately received payment confirmation from PayPal but so far no email from PMNA. Is the email with instructions for accessing back issues of Permaculture UK and confirmation of whether I was one of the first 50 subscribers sent out automatically, or is that an offline process that takes more time?

Thanks,

Cory

It's been a few hours since I subscribed. I received a payment confirmation email from PayPal immediately, but haven't received any other email regarding the subscription. Maybe it needs to be done manually and will happen later on today.

Get in there everyone if you are interested in Jenni's book. I live close to her in Nova Scotia, Canada, and just bought a copy from her at a local event. It is a good book to get started with putting some permaculture into practice. A personal, interesting read. Of course, you may want to get a print copy later even if you get this freebie download!

excited to see the 'return of Cassie', and I'm in! (though not without tech difficulties. for my ebook, registered w/newsociety but their download link isn't working - sent a note, we'll see... also need to WAIT for my access to 87 back issues, "will be active within 24-48 hours..." grrr, I'm sooooo impatient! guess I need to go to WORK this morning instead of getting lost in reading.)
looking forward to learning! (and still have land to share if someone is looking for a place in northeastern PA - see https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-Cs2d6m/ )

Will there be a digital only subscription option (or did I miss it)? I have my Permaculture UK subscription as digital only. I don't like the waste of having a print copy of magazines.

For some reason none of the "clickable links" through Permies is working for me since the redesign. Anyone the url for the subscription instead of the link? Thanks

Hey Everyone,

Just woke up.

First of all: THANKS FOR THE HUGE SUPPORT!! WOW! What a fun thing to wake up to.

Now, onto the problems. Lemme get settled (get some tea and toast in me), and I can answer everyone's questions/address their problems.

Hi Mike.. I think this is a good question to answer here. On the site, she mentions an electronic-only subscription will be available in June after the first print edition goes out.

I'm not sure why it is saying it isn't secure. Where did you get that message? Just when you went to the homepage?

Regarding not having http in the url, try this: http://permaculturemag.org/

Hi Cassie,
For a website to be secure according to my (very limited!) knowledge it has to say https:// note the "s" which is missing from your link that you gave me there. So it is possible for any web-savvy person to get the info that anyone enters on that page. I went ahead and took my chances anyway as paypal is secure and I just hope that my name and address and email, phone etc don't get picked up by anyone from the sign up page and sold or misused. You might want to ask your web expert about this.

Hi BeeDee,

This magazine will have entirely different articles. So yes, it will be different enough. Occasionally we might feature a few of their articles in our magazine, but that will only be on occasion.

It will just have the same sections and be almost identical aesthetically.
