The one in the monthly-ish e-mail. Does it make any difference?

Hi Anders!

Your pledge will come through fine if you used a referral code or not.
The referral codes are to help us track what channels are working to get information out to people.

Thank you for supporting the Kickstarter!

I just posted about it on my Facebook  and Instagram pages.  I used an image of my own RMH and personal experiences to promote that it's something real people can do.  Hopefully this can bring in one or two more supporters or at least get more people to look into RMHs.

I am glad this project is going so well!

I  have a question I don’t know where to ask. I am hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.

I am looking at what level to back the kick starter, but my question is more about digital type technology, not rmh tech😊.

I see there is no DVD option, and am trying to figure out how I might be able to get one.

If I back the kick starter at the HD quality download, can I somehow have that made into a DVD myself, or will there be internal locks and or copyright protection?

I did read the FAQ. And by my understanding, the print on demand dvd is a possibility at this point, rather than a sure plan.

I don’t know what that DVD would cost or whether I could only get the DVD if I had been a backer.

Thanks

The DVD question is the very first thing in our FAQ.  So here is the copy and paste answer

We are finding that very few people want a physical DVD. Rather than print a batch of a thousand and then ship them, we are trying something new. If the kickstarter is funded, then at the end we can set up with a print-on-demand for DVDs.

More:  for the tour movie and the berm shed movie, the bernal brothers have been exploring getting that set up on DVD.  It sounds like that could be available in a couple of days.  And, once proven to work and we understand all the details of that stuff, we will most likely offer this movie down that path as well.

Still more:  most people want a DVD because they have a lame internet connection.  So getting a download version makes it so you can grab a copy when in town and then have the copy forever after that.

Me either.  Hence the whole thing about the tour movie stuff.  We need to sell a few copies of physical DVDs and then we can start to learn from there.

I suppose we need to start the conversation about stretch goals.  Anybody have any suggestions?  Or, better yet, anybody own the copyright for a book or a movie that could be a stretch goal?

Since Paul is bringing up stretch goals, what would you backers and supporters like to see? Would you prefer items that are related to the Rocket Mass Heater and wood heat? Or mix it up a little and have unrelated things offered?

Let us know in the comments! (And thank you!)

Not necessarily only heat/ stove stuff, but keeping it permie-related is good, I think. Food, gardening, energy, housing, trees, crafts...

I would gladly offer some of my books, but I don't think Christian romance will be much of a draw! Maybe even a negative!

Thanks for the offer!  I gotta agree, I think stretch goals should be at least a little permie related.  :)

That would be super cool.  I had the same thought.  That particular book ended up in the ownership of a publisher.  And publishers tend to not wanna do something like this.   We would need to put a pdf or epub version into our digital market - they might be okay with that part.  The next part is that if we get 100 people that back the kickstarter at $100 or higher, we will connect those 100 people to a copy of the book, and the publisher will probably say they want the full price for each copy of the book - which is more than we have budgeted for stretch goals.

Self pub folks, or folks that still own their own book - they are usually FAR more open to the digital market and the stretch goal dealio.

I'd really like to see the stretch goal level at $65 as it was for the last project.  That's about the extent of my ability to commit 😉.  Thanks and congratulations on funding so quickly.  I never had a doubt!

The extent of what you can do is, indeed, and excellent metric!

Of course, I have a lot of people involved in this project - many of whom get a slice of the final pie, and they are counting on me to make good decisions.  Plus, if I'm smart, that leads to more operating capital for more projects!

We have tried many things over the years.  Last year we tried doing stretch goals at $65. The argument is that $65 will end up with more people raising their backer level, so you end up further ahead.  I think that if we set it at $100 we would have had fewer people, but more dollars overall.   Compound that with a bunch of inflation stuff - I am leaning heavily in the $100 direction.

I certainly understand the financial decision making and dont blame you for whichever direction you go.  Make the smartest choice possible.  Just my input of hope 😉.  Thanks for the consideration.

How juicy would the stretch goal have to be to increase your pledge?

A movie?
A Book?
A Bunch of Podcasts?
A Ticket to Something?

... I like tickets myself!

The events at Wheaton Labs are the best ever!

I would increase my pledge for a chance to come to another event.
