White gives me the best vibes when I actually think of using them to play cards. White gets my vote for this reason :)

I like the color purple, but to me this shade just doesn't seem quite right on these cards with the other artwork.  I upvoted green because, in addition to looking nice, Growing Things!

My favorite above all though is the blue.  The specific peaceful tone of blue used here is very pleasant to gaze at and sets off the artwork well, while maintaining its own understated richness.  The sepia has better contrast, which may be a serious consideration for some folks.  The blue or green background colors could be faded out a bit, giving better contrast for those who prefer more.  I really do like the blue and the green just the way they are though.

Depending on how they are printed, why not have several options?  Based on the voting you'd know which colors would sell the best and could stock more of those colors.

To throw a real wrench in the works, how about blue above the root line, and green below it?  =)

Bearing in mind that with my screen settings the colors will probably not look 100% the same in person...

I like the purple but it's a bit too bright for my tastes (not that it would stop me from buying a deck).
Green, Blue, and Sepia are my favorites.
Black and white looks nice but I think the contrast is a bit too high for me.

Purple is my favorite color, so I'm with Paul.

Will they have different information from the first concept? My daughter can't find my deck that I sent ahead of our arrival.

Since the apple tree already has (not so mild/light) colours in it, in my opinion any strong background colour has a very unpleasant effect at least for my eyes. My artistic painter mum wholeheartedly agree.

So the suggestion would be
- if you want strong background colour the apple tree should be without colours or with minimal colours - black&white, sepia or something like that
- if you want coloured tree and and apples like it is, then sepia or b&w background is appropriate (sepia is my favorite)

I can see the purple background is one of two with most votes for now, and beeing Paul's favorite it has a lot of chance to win. If it does, please consider what I've written above. It really is much easier on the eyes without those clashing colours.

I also like the lighter backgrounds, especially the green, brown, and blue. Those colors look good pale, and also look what you would find behind a tree in nature.

I also wonder if the background and foreground would be more harmonious if some of the colors of the tree were worked into the background, kind of like this:

a very quick and dirty photoshop for the general idea. I'm sure Andres would do a much better job!!

I just made another layer in photoshop and changed the hue of a few boarder areas. I didn't spend much time thinking about what colors would look best in which places, and I didn't color very well in the lines. I just wanted to be able to see it, because my mind is terrible at visualizing things!

I like the purple, gold,  sepia in that order.  It seems like the colors of the fruit pop more with these back grounds.

I like the example of a few colors worked into the border… just a few.  The current design seems to make the fruit most prominent.  I like that.  The blue seems too grey to me, and the green doesn’t seem to offer enough contrast to make the apples pop.

None of the background colors are offensive to me.  I’m just speaking of degrees of preference.  I like them all.

In my imagination, making a change of color at the soil air interface seems quite jarring, seems like arbitrary division between above and below ground.  I like seeing the seeing the whole organism as one.

😁
It’s the new method of voting!  Each voter ranks their preferences.

But don’t ask me how they figure out the winner… maybe if there are 5 options, then each first gets 5 points, secind gets 4, etc.

Only one winner, but if everyone had the same second choice, but the other ranks were totally mixed, I think the one that was everyone’s second choice would be the winner.

Want to help choose which card goes with which suit and face?

This poor man's poll will pick which topic goes with which suit, face card and number. Populating the suits will be in this order;  Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades. The card order will be from top to bottom; Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, and so on until all are assigned. For example, the 4 most popular will be the Ace of Hearts, the Ace of Diamonds, the Ace of Clubs, the Ace of Spades.

How this works:

Click thumbs up / +1 for all the cards you that you like.

Adding an Apple to a post counts as 10 votes!

Adding PIE to a post counts as 20 votes!

You can vote for as many of the cards as you like.

We'll post the results when we have them!

Happy voting!
