This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in woodland care.

In this Badge Bit, you will put up one cord of firewood (completion pics)!

(source: Ting Farm Blog)

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
- put up one cord of firewood (completion pics)
  - one cord is 128 cubic feet

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (<2 mins):
   - harvesting some of the firewood that you will put up
   - action shot of putting up firewood
   - one cord of firewood stacked properly

Here is my submission for the Woodland Care - Straw -  Put up One Cord of Firewood BB.

To document the completion of the BB, I provide the following photos
+photo of my firewood storage area
   - harvesting some of the firewood that you will put up
   - action shot of putting up firewood (splitting and stacking)
   - one cord of firewood stacked properly
+photos for dimensional perspective and dimensions

My space is 20-ft wide with a drop hammer in the middle.  I do stack behind and around it but it is likely less dense than the rest of the stack so I'm using 9.5' wide (as seen in photos) for the width instead of 10-ft.

My dimensions are 9.5-ft wide x 7-ft tall x 4-ft deep
9.5*7*4=266 cubic feet of firewood
266/128=2.07 cords of firewood

I submit one cord of stacked firewood for this BB and would like to submit the second cord (plus 2 more) for the Wood Level Firewood BB.

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

Thanks for the great pictures.  This BB is complete.  Please bear with me as I am not sure about the granting of two BBs from one post, but I hear you regarding that request.

Staff note (gir bot) :

Note: I certified this again, since it was certified before our current system.

I'll be posting this up along with the three cords BB post also so please excuse me for posting some repeat pictures.

The measurements for my cord (in non-freedom units) is:
5m x 1.9m x 0.4m = 3.7 cubic meters.

3.7 cubic meters converted to freedom units = 130 cubic feet

Did a bit of firewood processing this fall.  The stacks are holzmeiter or holzhausen style (my spelling is probably wrong).  The base is 10' diameter and this one is much narrower going up so it's less likely to bulge out as it dries.  It's probably closer to 4 cords since it's 8' tall and probably 6' diameter at the top.  Used sawmill slab wood as the roof.

Thanks Edward!  It's a bit quirky and likely more work that a long row.  But it takes up less space and seems much less likely to tip over.

Next year I want to make a cube that might double as a fort...
