A few days ago my 5 year old told me the toilet wouldn't flush, I didn't think anything of it until later that night i heard running water and saw that a part was broken. I wasn't sure what it was so i looked up a diagram on google found the name for the part i needed. My wife went a few days ago to get the part I needed since she was already in town getting groceries but i mistakenly told her the wrong size so we had to deal with fixing the flapper seal for a few days until we had a few other things to get in town. I was able to pick up the part today and install it. Lesson learned if you can bring the old/broken part with you to the store it makes finding the replacement part a lot easier.

I fixed a running toilet today!  I thought it was just an issue of gunk on the flapper that was preventing a good seal.  Unfortunately after cleaning it off, it still leaked.  So I bought a kit to replace all the moving parts of the toilet.

This toilet has had ongoing problems. The mechanisms have been replaced by the landlord twice and though the major issues were resolved, it continued to run slowly, but inconsistently. Rather than having the clients' landlord in again, I wnt ahead and did the fix myself. The seal was still good, but it turns out that the chain was kinked so it wasn't always closing the seal completely. All it took this time was to loosen the kink so the chain would drop to a consistent position.

Here is my submission for the Plumbing - Sand - Tiny List - Fix a Leaky Toilet BB.

The toilet in my sister's bathroom leaks and runs maybe 3-4x per day.  It is a slow leak but sometimes I wake in the middle of the night due to the noise.  I cleaned the flapper (which was slimy) and added about 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the tank to clean things up a bit before the next flush.  

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
  - a before picture of the leaking toilet
  - an in-process shot of you repairing the leaking toilet
  - an after picture of the toilet no longer leaking
  - a description of the problem and how it was fixed

This loo has been a major pain, we cut corners when we installed it years back, and it's been teaching us the lesson of that ever since.

This bad boys runs, runs like it's competing in the Olympics. So many problems, but todays problem is the chain inside one link broke, but open so the flapper wouldn't shut. Grrr...

It was a pretty simple fix, just got some more chain, and redid the links.

Here is my submission for the Plumbing - Sand for Straw - Tiny List (duplicate) - Fix a Leaky Toilet BB.

The toilet in my sister's bathroom has a small flapper leak and does not always fill (after you flush) so I'm replacing everything in the tank.

I'm sick in bed, so what better time to finally post this badge bit that I did a couple of weeks ago?

Our toilet was leaking, oh no!
Upon inspection, the flapper was not sealing properly... so, I went to the store and got a new one to replace it with :)

long story short we had a leaky toilet and now we don't.

But here's the long story long.
Our problem was that The toilet kept on flushing by it's self, Thus wasting massive amounts of water when no one was there to fix it.
The problem was that the cylindrical float thingy on a stick that is on the left wouldn't rise, and thus the water wouldn't turn off when the tank was full, so the overflow pipe slightly to the right of the cylindrical floaty thing on a stick kept draining the continually filling water tank. thus there was lots of water wasted. the end...….. But not actually, because we had to fix it, and we did.

So, we went to lows to go and buy a new cylindrical float thingy on a stick so that the problem would stop being a problem. then after getting the old cylindrical floaty thing on a stick out, we put a new one in, and that fixed our problem!

This toilet randomly runs because the 24 year old innards needed to be replaced.
I'm our plumber - I'm usually pretty goid at it. Today was hell.

New innards kit was a generic one instead of the very specific one for this brand toilet. On the plus side this kit lets me adjust how much water is in the tank and how fast the flapper shuts!

Took 4 tries to get the tank seated on the bowl propper because of the shape of the gasket. It's not perfect but unless i tell me dad and he looks noone else will notice lol.

Got the whole thing put back together and I'm filling the tank to do leak checks then the shut off valve decides it's going to fail. I deemed it not repairable as the ball valve was plastic and decided it might be best to replace the hose as long as I'm at it.

It's done. I'm done 😜

I popped over to my sister's house while she was out of town to repair a leaky toilet. After cleaning the bowl and snapping a photo, I turned off the water and emptied the reservoir. Then, I brushed the seal interface, applied silicone grease, and added about a cup of vinegar to the reservoir. I turned the water back on to test it and it's all better now.

I attended Helen's Garden Master Course in January 2022 and give the lectures 10/10 acorns! Fortunately for you, you can also see the Garden Master recordings but unfortunately you'll miss out on the fruit Helen grew and shared. It was the tastiest fruit I've ever had!
