There are an awful lot of times I really wish my property was flat. But I am more familiar with hills, so I'm going with hills.

Hills - for all the reasons above, but also because they can be leveraged to ease your work load. (And they're fun to slide or roll down)

Ive noticed that! I work on a flat farm, and in some ways I prefer being on the high path or low path at my place crawling around even if its more shoveling while Im trying to figure it out.

The hills.  Plains would require me to live somewhere else and I don't want to move far away.

All of the flat places have been far too long domesticated. I think that it is too much to ask for a human being not to frequent truly wild places. And hills and mountains also have so much diversity to them, nooks here and there for rare plants to hide. I will take the hill.

If not for this, I’d probably find where I am now in the valley to be perfect—still between hills though.

I’ll go for the plains. Flat is flexible and easy. Things stay put. Water soaks in instead of running off. Two dimensional maps match reality.

I live on the Plains and though the area is flat it’s also very dry. Dealing with water issues is a pain in the patootie to keep the Soiled hydrated, Let alone you’ll never be able to just walk and enjoy your garden without fear of facing a rattlesnake

Shade is A true luxury she always have to be careful of scorching your plants and some plants tend to bolt quicker

But I do have to say the growing season is longer

No internal struggle on this one: hills, only hills, always hills.
My main reason is purely nostalgic: I never feel as at home as in Appalachian hill-country.
So interesting how our upbringing influences us. I remember an elderly woman who grew up on a Wisconsin farm who felt anxious and claustrophobic in the mountains.
Other practical reasons pull me to the hills, but that's the strongest draw.

The hills, I live in Oregon and moved to Montana for 6 months (Kalispell) and I could not stand the flat land, the Rockies and Glacier Park far away, I choose hills every time.
