This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry and store rosemary

You need to dry enough to make a tea, infusion or decoction.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
- a picture of your fresh herbs being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labelled container
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date and method of drying

I was glad to see rosemary thriving among the weeds when I made it to that part of the garden this week.

Rosemary is one of my happy herbs. Unlike my many light, minty or citrus smelling herbs, it's warm and rich and has a wonderful earthy touch and taste. I love it as a hair rinse, a tea, or in cooking (We make a lot of bone broth and we love to put several large sprigs of rosemary in there).

Our land produces large amounts of wild rosemary, the neighbour takes advantage with his beekeeping.

The oldest ones, when died, have a diameter 3 inches at the base.

Sometimes we find big living ones in the middle of a path to be cleared, then we have a large harvest.

This time the harvest is small to document this PEP BB.

I held off posting this as I wasn't sure whether drying in an oven would count towards this BB. However, I've looked at other posts like lavender and found others that have done this. I'm still new to dehydrating but plan to buy a dehydrator in the summer.

This was my first time drying a herb. I visited my parents in November and took advantage of their rosemary bush. There wasn't much as it was late in the year but as I'm usually only cooking for myself it should last for a while.

This rosemary bush grows in our garden is loaded with blue blossoms in the springtime, and beloved by bumblebees, but by now the blooms are spent. The smell of the plant is warm, earthy and invigorating.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry and store rosemary
You need to dry enough to make a tea, infusion or decoction.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:

Usually we use this for culinary uses (its 'barbecue' variety) but I'm fond of it in tea as well. This batch is planned to make an olive oil infusion. I'll post back here when it is dry and ready to store.
