We want to reach a huge audience with this kickstarter. We think that having an entirely passive greenhouse that requires no electricity and harvests grey water has a huge potential to revolutionize gardening.
We are planning to offer kickbacks to people who promote the kickstarter. Below is what we are offering. The idea is to double incentivize extra support - more money from more backers and more money per backer.
In the past people have asked for a link and then only had 1 supporter - they were giving themselves a discount. So... If you bring in 2 or more supporters:
5% kickback if you bring in $100 to $500
10% kickback if you bring in $500 to $1000
15% kickback if you bring in $1000 to $5000
20% kickback if you bring in $5000 to $10,000
25% kickback if you bring in $10,000 to $50,000
30% kickback if you bring in $50,000 or more
This is open to anyone who wants in. If you let us know that you are interested, we'll set up some spiffy links and send them to you once the kickstarter is live. If someone supports after clicking those links, then we'll send you a cut.
We currently have a 25% conversion rate for this Kickstarter. That means that for every 1,000 people who click through to our Kickstarter, 25% of them (250 people) contribute to the Kickstarter.
The average pledge is currently $30.52, for a total of $7,630 per 1,000 people who visit the Kickstarter. Last year, many people raised their pledges at the end of the Kickstarter, when many stretch goals were being achieved.
The average pledge by the end of last year’s Kickstarter was $55.63. If the average pledge this year turns out to be similar, that means that for every 1,000 people who visit our Kickstarter, we get $13,907. The 25% kickback affiliate fee at that level would total $3,476.75.
We are also offering the following five things to the top five kickback folks in addition to the kickback fees paid:
42 seeds of Sepp Holzer grain (we got it established here at Wheaton Labs with only 42 grains!) (you must be located in the US)
$50 in bitcoin
A huckleberry pie (you must be located in the US)
A gift code for the PDC & ATC footage
A "message in a bottle" with lots of podcasts and videos (you must be located in the US)
The idea is that the top referrer gets to pick the one they want, the person in second place picks from the remaining four, and so forth.
Jen will be posting updates like the ones
here and
here listing how many people have used each user's referral link and how much money they have contributed, so people know how well their attempts to promote the kickstarter are working and where they stand in the rankings.
