We keep a good number of standing dead trees on our property for wildlife and wild edible mushroom growing, but this one was contributing to an excessively moist mosquito-breeding pocket and leaning a little over a walkway, which can be a hazard particularly as hurricane season is beginning in earnest in these parts.Once I had downed the tree, my brother helped me break it down and drag it to a hugel-inspired garden bed in progress.

Had to remove some dead tree’s from a property that I am getting ready to sell, so it was the perfect time to get a BB.

This gave me mad respect for the lumberjacks of old. I had to take a break in the middle of cutting the tiny thing! I used my trusty triple bevel pruning saw.

I had a dead hardwood along the front of our path that we will slowly start turning into a forest garden. This was my first time taking down this size tree with a bow saw (I got the bow saw for $5.40 at a local farm store!!!)

For y'all's consideration: i dropped a dead tree that was leaning towards my cabin using a bow saw, plus a rope and ratchet clamps operated by neighbors. The added gear was to decrease odds of it falling towards the cabin. If that's an issue i certainly have plenty other dead trees coming down, i can document another.
