This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry and store strawberry leaf.

You need to dry enough to make a tea, infusion or decoction.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
- a picture of your fresh herbs being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labelled container.
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date and method of drying.

I grow alpine strawberries in ‘pockets’ on the wall at the back of the house. They started fruiting end of June and everyday since, my wife and I pick a small handful to eat after lunch.

I picked a couple of handfuls of leaves, picking the freshest looking ones. I hung them in a string bag in the kitchen to dry for a few days. I checked every day until they were crisp and dry. They are now stored in a labeled and dated jar. Over the next few weeks, I will harvest lots of my herbs before the first frost arrives.

Hello! Since my strawberries are finished producing, I harvested some leaves as well. I'm excited to use their astringent properties in sitz baths after my baby comes. (Any day now!) I'm also excited to mix it with raspberry leaves for a tea for my daughter who just started her path as a woman! Thank heavens I've saved some herbal remedies to help soothe this teenage process for her! I dried this bunch of leaves from my garden in my dehydrator and then stored and labeled them.

I've noticed there aren't any websites or youtube videos connected to these herbs so we can learn about them as we do badge bits. Would y'all like help with that? Are you waiting to make your own videos or something? I've been taking herbal classes, and it's become a new passion of mine.

My submission for the Dry Strawberry leaf BB.

I picked from my garden, where the strawberries have been growing like crazy all year. They`re loving their life alongside yellow onions and asparagus! The red sweetness have mostly gone straight into my mouth (also quite a lot disappeared with my nephew when he was visiting. He didn`t even wait until they were ripe! )
Tried eating the leaves fresh. That didn`t give me alot. Might just as well dry them and see what that`s like!

I’ve got an abundance of strawberry leaves and was recently fascinated to discover strawberry leaf played a major role in my ancestral herbal traditions! I have both alpine and junebearing strawberries growing in the garden , so I picked some fresh, healthy-looking leaves, air dried them, crumbled, and stored for tea. Thanks for your consideration!

Gathered strawberry leaves from the front yard, rinsed, and hung to dry overnight in a mesh bag.  Made a very nice tea.
Went and gathered more for storage.

I chose to use the “ugly” leaves for my infusion and dried the “pretty” ones, hoping that increases the longevity and nutrient preservation
