second test:

Go to this page and sign up for an f-code:

https://permies.com/wiki/279979/garden-master-affiliate-info

Did it work?  Was it super easy?  Did you start from being logged in?

Using Firefox and Google browser.  Logged so I can post.  No sign of any F code (and I mean that in the nicest possible way. . .) When logged in there is a circle with a shadow head plus my name next to it.
I've scrolled top to bottom, still no mention of F code but at the bottom  it includes the comment "mobile view" even though I'm using a PC at present.
Needless to say, most of the computer features are a complete mystery

It took me a minute to realize what was happening, because I figured you'd just used the number 100 as an example....and then I read more and realized it was auto-generated. Spiffy!

I think Paul picked 7 for himself, considering his user ID is also 7. It might be coincidence, but it might also not be!

I started from the email sent today, May 7th, and since I was not logged in it required me to log in and then took me the forum home page, nothing about f-codes.  So I went back to the email and, already logged in, went to the post again and clicked on the Second Test link, which took me to my "Ledger" showing my transactions, but I cannot see anywhere that says I have an f-code.

I cannot find an f-code

Am I old and easily confused, or is my already-logged-in, running on Chrome in Windows, just taking me somewhere slightly different?  Or is the f-code somewhere that I'm not seeing?

I am here because of the email sent today.
1. I clicked on the link and it took me to this thread and said that I have no F code and that I am not logged in.
2. I logged in and refreshed.  It said that I have no F code and that I am logged in.
3. I clicked the link to get an F code, went through the process (quite easy and worked smoothly) and refreshed.  Now it says that my F code is 796 and I am currently logged in.

Looks like things are working as expected from what I can see!

Second test

Here’s the scoop on my end

Mac OS 13, Firefox 138 with some privacy add-ons

Started as not logged in.

Clicked on link above, went to GMC affiliate info wiki page

Step 1: Clicked link, took me to login page

Logged in, got redirected to Forums home page in a new tab (Special wish upon a star: That after logging in, I would always be magically redirected to the page I was on before logging in.)

Try my usual trick of using the back button to navigate back to the page I was on before. Doesn’t work because it’s a new tab. Go to previous tab where the GMCAI page is and continue from there.

I do not refresh my page bacause I need another cup of coffee and I’m confused what to do next because I see (image below) -- same as before logging in. It seems I didn’t complete Step 1 when clicking on the link as I did before because it seems I should have an f-code now and I don’t, I only got logged in. So I continue in my non-coffee brain haze and click the same Step 1 link again. It opens another tab and invites me to log in again even though I am already logged in with my name at upper right.

I think some users might abandon here.

I go back to the GMCAI tab, refresh the page and Step 1 changes, asking me how I’d like to be paid.

I go back to the tab for this thread (t/279835) and refresh it too. It now says
- you do not have an f-code (no change)
- you are currently logged in (changed)

Back to GMCAI, I enter fake payment details as I don’t like the available options*. This takes me to my Ledger page. Lots of things to do there as I’m not set up as an affiliate, but I’m not sure if this is of any value. If anyone wants me to continue to see if I eventually get an f-code, let me know and I will.
(*Second wish upon a star: I would love Permies to have a Wise account and I’d take affiliate money there via easy-peasy super-fast transfer.)

Questions:
Did it work? I would say not yet. Maybe if I filled in the affiliate details it would eventually give me an f-code.
Was it super easy? No. (It was until it wasn’t, but I was making things complicated a bit on purpose to kick the tires.)

Looks like we’re very close to victory but I would say there are some loose ends to tie up maybe.

There's a teeny, tiny box on the far left to click that I missed the first time.  XD
I thought all I had to do was enter my payment method, I missed the box to click to "become and affiliate" and now I have an f-code.

When I arrived at the thread, it said I was logged in but no f code. I signed up for the f code (794). I then went back to the thread. Refreshed. And it showed my f code. Thanks for the affiliation!

That sounds like our system failed.  The "step 1" login should bring you back to that page.

Started by not being logged in (using Safari on old MacBook)
Followed link to log in (which opened new tab)
Returned to open tab with link to get F-code.
Requested F-code on the left
without a problem. F-code 799.
Opened page https://gardenmastercourse.com?=799.
It worked!  Easy peasy.

Was logged in prior to start (Windows machine using Chrome)

- Clicked on "Step 2" link
- Opened https://permies.com/wiki/279979/garden-master-affiliate-info in new tab
- Entered my Paypal link in "Step 1: Get an F-Code" and clicked Submit
- Page redirected to a new page (can no longer access to get url), where I re-entered my Paypal link, checked "Sign up as an Affiliate" checkbox, and answered a question about citizenship. Clicked save, but had to navigate back so I could follow the next instructions from the previous page
- Added my new F code to Garden Master Course url: https://gardenmastercourse.com/?f800
- Clicked on "Buy Now" on Garden master Course.
- Received error code alert "You have already purchased this item"
- Tried again with "incognito" tab, Payment links appeared, but didn't include any reference to my F Code (https://permies.com/forums/pay/checkout/51xses4gcewi;jsessionid=0B25D277FD54BA03C110B6A1979863C4#paypal)

I disabled these add-ons and still got redirected to the home page after login. No idea what might be causing that.

Anyway, I went back to the process in the other tab and got an f-code. It was easy (despite the hiccup of the redirect to the home page after login, I thought that was default behavior because it happens to me every time). So no worries from my end.

The first post says I'm logged in and shows my new f-code, yea!

I saw the Garden Mater Course affiliate info page although I cannot provide you with the URL. It asks how you want to be paid and more.

I hope this helps.

Tried the second test link while not logged in. No F-code, but a prompt asking for me to log in to become an affiliate. After logging in, it brought me to the main forum page with no further prompts. There was no back button.

I had to go back to the email, then to the post and hit the second test link again. This time I was logged in, so it just asked me how I wanted to be paid. I put in old school check info and then it redirected me to the threads I own page and prompted me again for how I wanted to be paid and if I was a US citizen(I took a screenshot).

Once I submitted the info I was redirected to a lovely area where I was given an f-code of 803 and I could keep track of all the affiliate links I have.

All in all, the process was very easy, considering I’m not super computer literate. I’ve looked into doing the affiliate thing before but it seemed too complicated to figure out.

Thanks for the easy affiliate page!
