This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Homesteading.

In this Badge Bit, you will fill a sand barrel.  Note that this BB is part of a four-part choose your own adventure list BB called Little List. You must complete four Badge Bits in the Little List.

In ice country, it is wise to have a few sand barrels around.  You might put sand on an icy road or an icy sidewalk.   You fill them in the summer and use the sand in the winter.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - fill a sand barrel in the summer

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
   - a before picture of the mostly empty sand barrel
   - an action shot of the sand barrel being filled during what's obviously summer
   - an after picture of the filled sand barrel
   - a description of how the sand barrel is going to be used

Today at the 2019 PEP1 event, I was running the tractor with a loader bucket.  What a great time to fill a sand barrel!  I collected dry sand from Arrakis (parking lot) so that the barrel won't freeze solid in winter.  The barrel that needed sand wasn't empty but since it needed filling, I filled it.  It will be used to sand the driveway when it gets icy.

I'd like to propose that the BB requirements be changed so that the barrel doesn't need to be mostly empty when you begin.
