Here are my 2 coat hooks made from green olive wood.
Peeled all the bark, did a bit of shaping, flattened the backing, finished with sanding paper, and done!  Lovely little project :)

A few days ago I chopped an unwanted Norway maple sapling out of our eastern red cedar “thicket.” Then I sawed off a few chunks for different projects, including a few Y sections for these coat hooks.

Peeled the bark off with a knife, chiseled away the back to get it flat, chopped a few stubborn knots and pointy branch ends off with a chisel and mallet, and finished with sanding.

I’m glad I cut a couple of extras, because my first attempt went a little awry at the chiseling stage. But no matter—there were more pieces to work with!

Howdy, fellow permaculture enthusiasts.  This was a fun BB, my family thought that one of the hooks was little provocative looking and we had a good laugh at my expense.  I may have an interest in carving after this, it was a nice sample/intro to sculpting wood.
