I'm cooking rice in my rice cooker to compare the texture of the rice cooked on the stovetop.

I used this recipe: https://slowcookermeals.com/crock-pot-rice/

3 cups rice
1/2 tsp salt
6 cups water

Mixed in crockpot. Cooked on high for a little over 2 hours. So easy!

I used Sona Masoori rice - it's an Indian rice that we really like.

Here is my submission for the Food - Sand - Grain BB.

I cooked 4 dry cups of long brown rice.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - you must produce at least two cups of grain
 - you must use a rice cooker, crock pot or Instant Pot (other brands of pressure cookers are fine)

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
Attachment 1   - a picture of the uncooked grain in your cooker
Attachment 2   - a picture of your cooked grain in your cooker (clearly at least 2 cups of cooked grain - if it isn't clear, make it clear with an extra picture)

Clarifications:
- All food prep and preservation BBs strictly prohibit plastic, teflon or aluminum touching the food at any point

Lunch today... and plenty of leftovers! I was worried that my rice cooker would be too small to cook two cups, but it pulled through! I used one cup white rice and one cup brown rice (the little thing has trouble getting brown rice fully cooked on its own). I also threw in some salt, garlic, and dried green onion.


One cup brown, one cup white.


Rice in the pot. I grabbed some to show it off because the water was starchy.


You got this lil guy.


Done!

I made some millet for this BB. I have been trying to expand my horizons in terms of trying new grains since I saw a TED talk on millet, so I decided it would be a cool nod to part of what got me interested in food issues/agriculture in the first place. I started with 2 cups of millet (you can tell because the rice cooker has numbers on it for the cups), added some water, and then some toppings (lemon, pomegranate, olives, and carrots, along with some EVOO and ACV). After the rice cooker did its thing, I added some to a bowl with some asparagus, blackberries, apples, sauerkraut, and lentil sprouts. I'd give this a solid 8.5/10
