Make a sign - PEP BB dimensional.sand.sign

BB dimensional lumber woodworking - sand badge
+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Here is my (not quite complete) submission for the Make A Sign - sand - dimensional woodworking BB.  I will edit and "report" when it is finished.  This is my report for this week's BB Club project.

To document the completion of the BB, I verify the following requirements:
- Sign is made from a 2x8 that is over 3" long so it is 7.5" tall by ~40" wide
- Some means of hanging or posting the sign - three screws will attach it to a signpost or tree in the space between RV & Camp
- No treated wood - It is dimensional lumber
- Lettering is burned after being routed
- must finish with tung oil or linseed oil (need to acquire some oil and finish project)

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following photos:
- pic of the wood and your burning tools
- pic of the sign getting oiled
- pic of the sign hanging or posted

Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

Looking good!  It's a lot easier on the evaluators if you just post once when you're done with the project.  Or if it's a picture heavy or long drawn out project, create a thread elsewhere on the site to store your progress and then do a summary in the BB thread to keep things concise.  Thanks!

Here is my submission for Dimensional Woodworking - Sand - Make a Sign.

I actually made two signs.  The first is the RV Park then a second for the Treehouse for the Brand A Place BB.
Below, I have a picture of the leftover 2x8 with the Pencil Torch (my Wood Burning Tool) and the piece of wood I started with.

To document the completion of the BB, I provide five pictures including the following:
 - pic of the wood and your burning tools
 - pic of the sign getting oiled
 - pic of the sign hanging or posted

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

These are unquestionably great signs.  It took me quite a while to realize that you used the torch to burn the letters after you routed them.  So I'll echo Mike that keeping all the pics in one post helps us out.  In any case looks great and this is certified!

Rough cedar boards, penciled then burned with a soldering iron. Sanded with 60#, 120#, 240x then finished with perilla oil, which is a drying oil equivalent to linseed oil. Nailed the boards together then put some recycled screw hooks on the back and hung it with jute string. I will probably drill some holes in the excess metal for the hooks to hang on, but I don't have any drill bits for metal anymore...

Made a sign, inspired by the show "The Good Place". Highly recommended. It's posted right as you walk out of the back door to the backyard.

My friend needed a sign at his gate to sell eggs there. I used a piece of HT packing skid 6 1/2" wide, and the two pieces add up to 21", so I'm hoping that's acceptable. I used some salvaged copper wire to fasten the two signs together (very difficult due to the thickness), then a scrap of copper-covered welding wire to make rings to hang the whole sign up (thinner wire *much* easier, but required more turns to be strong enough).
