I almost feel like I'm a nobody in the permaculture world and therefore am not worthy of making the first post to this BB, but here I am.

For context, this is a hole in my pea coat. And now I can put little things in my pocket again :)

My fiancé's friend needed a hole repaired on the pocket of a pair of shorts and asked me because I fix all of my fiancé's clothes so here is what I did.

I didn't have a tan thread so I used brown, It really doesn't matter though because the pocket won't be seen unless turned inside out.

This is it in progress. I used a ladder stitch, I find it my go to when closing pocket holes.

Mended a hole in a pocket in a pair of shorts. They've had a hole in them for years! Happy to be able to have my keys not fall out of them anymore.

My husband got a massive hole in this pair of jeans' pocket. Once the keys (and massive keyring about 3cm in diameter) fell through the pocket onto the road, I knew there was a big problem--no 'stitch in time saves nine' economies to be had here! I patched the hole in one of the pockets without taking any photos, but luckily for this BB (and unluckily for me), there was an equally massive hole in the other pocket as well yet to be seen to.

The holes were numerous and large enough, that I felt the best way forward was to patch and reinforce, rather than just sewing closed. I used some scrap shirting as the patch, as it's a high quality cotton.

Sometimes this hole makes for magic Tardis pockets. Other times I lose things that are important.

I had a hole in the seam of my barn coat. It was bigger than an egg, and so very inconvenient.

My garden work pants have had some tears in them for far too long. While doing idle waiting work I mended them as best I could.

The pants are 100% cotton and so is the thread. I just used the most convenient sized needle I could find.

The hole before mending

And from the inside of the pants

I made some loops around the edge of the tears and then ran the thread through the entirety of it and pulled it tight first, then I did some wrapping stitches to reinforce it. I have no idea what the technical terms for these techniques are. I'm poorly imitating things I've seen done before without really knowing what I'm doing.

The inside mended

The outside mended

The middle mended (from the inside of the pocket)

I got a whole in my work jeans last week and fixed it today. I used 100% cotton thread to mend this pocket which was my first time mending one. I turned the pocket inside out to sew the hole shut.

My keys poked a hole in the pocket of one of my pairs of work jeans.  That’s my key pocket so I need it intact to hold my keys.

The back pocket of these jeans was just wore out. I cut a patch from an old pair of denim shorts and used denim thread.
