This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

In this badge bit, you will harvest, dry and store chamomile blossom.

You need to dry enough to make a tea, infusion or decoction.

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
- a picture of your fresh herbs being harvested
- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
- a picture of your herbs in a sealed and labelled container.
    - label shows where the herbs came from, the date and method of drying.

Edge case submission
Harvested and dried chamomile flowers for 'herbal tea'.
Here are the photos needed for the BB:

a picture of the fresh herbs (sorry, it rained a little, so they did not show their flowers well)

a picture of the herbs drying

a picture of the herbs in a sealed and labelled container.
   - label shows name ('kamille'), date and where they were picked, all in Dutch.

Note: Could you add drying method to you label?

Hi. You ask if I can add the method of drying to the label. I was aware that was part of the BB. But I don't know if I can write that small to put it on the small jar (with the marker). Maybe it will do if I describe my way of drying here? As you see in the photo I spread the flowers over a sort of rack, I leave it in a cool, airy and not-too-light place for a week to 10 days (depending on the weather). How should I call this? Maybe 'air-dried'?

Would pineapple weed (also know as wild Chamomile) count here?
Staff note (Mike Barkley) :

This is outside my area of expertise but I found enough online documentation to feel confident saying that it will count. Go for it!

I only have 2 chamomile plants that came up and are blooming so this jar was a labor of love collected since spring and dried in small batches then added to the jar until full. Whew!

I harvested Roman Chamomile from my herb garden and then dried them on a plate by a sunny windowsill. They are dry in a week or so. I sealed them in a jar with a few desiccant sachets that I have saved from the COVID test kits the government provides - they remove any remaining moisture from the jar and are non-toxic unless consumed. I've labelled the jar as required.

I can't believe that this herb grows wild right where my family has fished for years! All this time, I never knew it was chamomile! Now that I recognize it, and it's everywhere, I am so happy to harvest and dry it. My herbalist teacher, Doc Jones uses it in many formulas that I cannot wait to try. The first thing I'll do is try a sitz bath for me, and a tincture for my baby. I dried it in my  excalibur dehydrator while I delivered her. Perfect timing!

I planted chamomile in the garden for the first time this year, and the blossoms looked ready to harvest today.  After dehydration there was about a half pint.  I'm looking forward to making some tea soon!

My mom showed me a patch of chamomile and I thought it would be perfect for this bb. It was a big patch so the pictures I took are not all from the same part.

CHAMOMILE. I was with a local herablist who showed me where there was chamomile growing wild, she advised that I harvest and store the leaves, stem, and flowers.

- a picture of your herbs drying (hanging, in a dehydrator, or in a bag, etc)
