I washed a days worth of dishes by hand (family of 4) for this badge bit,using ecoleaf washing up liquid which is septic safe and biodegradable

Our washing up bowl is 6l and I used 2 bowls of water to wash the dishes. The first bowl of water I washed up mainly plates, cutlery and a few bowls, mixing bowl and rice cooker. The second bowl I did the stoneware, no soap used for that and I scrape stoneware clean under running water that goes into the washing up bowl.

I always do dishes by hand, though I was more mindful of how much water I used this time. I was surprised by how little it was in the end. The soap used is Palmolive pure and clear, which meets the OECD 301 test for biodegradability.

Measured out 24 cups (1.5 gallons) for the wash water. Brought it to a boil, and cleaned cast iron while waiting. Poured water into the sink over the silverware to sterilize. Added soap (https://www.mrsmeyers.com/product/dish/dish-soap/liquid-dish-soap-basil/) and a quick squirt of water because I like bubbles. Used the remaining 24 cups to rinse (had 2 cups left over). measured using a measuring cup. After dishes, used the water to soak pans (rice pan was not fun) and scrubbed them out.

Could not edit my previous post to add my missing BB requirements! So here is everything again.

Typically I do the dishes in smaller batches but I let em stack up today for this badge bit.

I used pink solution cleaner
(https://pinksolution.ca/pages/products)
which is all natural and biodegradable.

Roughly 1.5 gallons in the sink afterwards.

I did the dishes this morning. Used our new fancy soap (Ecover) which says it is biodegradable. I start with hot water in the biggest bowl of the washing session (3L in this case), then dump it out and rinsed into it to show the accumulated rinse water. In total about a gallon of water used. I stacked the dishes pretty high in the rack but if that isn't enough I can do another round. The bowl I washed and rinsed in was rinsed out and added to the drying rack after the last picture was taken to prove the volume of water used...

Edit: Did dishes again tonight to get the total quantity up a bit higher. See new photos below...

Here is my submission for this BB. I don't have a dishwasher, so I stacked them in my dish drainer and on the side counter. My husband says he's always amazed at how I stack dishes. I think that's a compliment!

I wasn't sure what 3 gallons or less looked like in my sink, so I used my stainless steel 2-gallon bowl as a dish pan. For soap, I used soap nuts. They release saponins in hot water.

The package doesn't say biodegradable, but their website does https://www.magicwashberries.com

I didn't use much more water than the two gallons in the bowl because I only rinsed toward the end, when the water started to look dirty.

i used hot tea kettle water to start ( i drink a lot of tea so i had hot water in the kettle anyway, and find that this method used far less water than waiting for the water to heat hence the gloves) then as i rinse the dishes over the bucket it cools and fills. i used a tiny bit <1tsp dr bronners soap, 100% biodegradable, i scrape all leftovers into a bowl to go outside to the critters, eggs and coffee/tea goes into the compost, i don't eat meat at this time so no worries about the compost.

BB submission for hand washing dishes.
We don’t have a dishwasher in our RV, just what’s attached with 10 fingers.
I used approx 3 qt of wash water and 3 qt for rinse.

Did a lot of cooking for meal prep for the week, and it left me with a lot of big pots and pans to wash. I didn't measure the water in the sinks, but there's about a gallon in each (definitely less than 1.5 gallons, so my total water usage is less than three gallons). I wash cleanest to dirtiest, starting with just very hot water and my scrubber for things like water bottles and silverware, and added a splash of vinegar for the dirtier stuff. (My research says that vinegar is greywater safe, especially dilluted.)
