Made a ginger syrup with equal parts sugar and (30min boil) ginger decoction that I had previously made here:
Pierre's Ginger Decoction

After adding the sugar and bringing up to temperature, I let the mixture boil together for 5 minutes. Then poured into a container after cooling and labeled.

I used part of my ginger decoction from here: https://permies.com/wiki/10/108848/pep-natural-medicine/ginger-root-decoction-PEP-BB#1363189

I used equal parts decoction and coconut sugar, simmering until the sugar was fully dissolved.

Here is my submission for the Natural Medicine Aspect - Sand for Straw - Make a Ginger Syrup BB.

I tried growing ginger but ended up with hollow ginger skins so I purchased organic ginger.

I've been reducing my sugar intake (particularly added sugars) due to a medical condition and this is my second batch of ginger syrup (only one submission).  The first had 50%erythritol and 50% raw sugar and this time I used only Erythritol.  It is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol, certified organic, and USDA-approved product that also has a low glycemic and insulin index. Yeah for those of us reducing or eliminating sugars

Recipe:
- 1 cup (about 5 ounces) fresh organic peeled ginger
- 2 cups Water
- 1/4 cup Erythritol

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (< 2 minutes):
 - Plant material (I live somewhere ginger does not grow, it is store-bought)
 - Making the syrup with a description or link to the recipe you used
 - Finished syrup in a labeled container

For this BB, I made a ginger syrup using a decoction of ginger and boiled sugar. My recipe was as follows:

-1 large piece of ginger chopped finely
-Ginger placed in about 2 quarts of water and boiled for roughly 30 minutes to make the decoction.
-I then mixed the 2 quarts water with 1 cup of sugar
-This was boiled for roughly 10 minutes and allowed to cool.

Mother in law recommended I try candied ginger for my stomach issues. It's hard to come by here, so I tried to make some myself. The recipe I'm following from emilyfabulous.com produces ginger syrup as a byproduct.

Ginger doesn't grow here, so store-bought ginger and a cup of sugar

90 minutes later, I removed the cooled ginger slices and set them aside for crystalizing

Finally, I poured the syrup into their jars and labelled them.

Inspired by all the candied ginger snacks (YUM!) over here, I wanted to do the same.

I took two fingers of ginger - peeled by scraping a knife all over - cut them in nice flat slices - put in pot with some water- boiled it up once to remove some bitterness from the ginger.
Drained and strained
Added just enough water to cover the ginger in the pot (3/4 cup)-mixed in the same amount of brown sugar (3/4 cup)
heated sloooowly until simmering then lowered temperature to keep at just above simmering temperature
kept on until syrup reached a thickness close to where I wanted it
removed ginger
continued simmering the ginger until syrupy thick
bottled

Sampled some of both the candies and the syrup and both taste great!

It`s already doing good things to my throat. I am looking forward to creating more syrups. For next time I will probably stop the process a bit earlier. If the syrup is bottled it might be a tad too thick to actually drip out! This would probably work better in a jar.

I made ginger lemon gummies following the recipe below except I halved it. I used storebought as we cannot grow ginger where I live. I have made gummies before, but never ginger!
https://raiasrecipes.com/2020/01/healing-ginger-lemon-gummies.html

1 cup water
1/2 inch ginger peeled
1/8 cup (2 tbsp) gelatin
2 tbsp raw honey
1/4 cup lemon juice

I put one cup water into a pot, grated the ginger into it and brought it to a boil. After it started boiling, I removed from the heat and covered for 5 min.
In another bowl I sprinkled the gelatin over the lemon juice to let it bloom for 5 min. Then I strained the ginger water into the juice and mixed with a whisk.
Poured into a glass dish to set for 2 hours in the frig. Perfect for snacks and immune boost!
