I love that the entire title "SKIP" is now the pond instead of just the circle inside the "P"
Curious about the dome (?). (being a technical geek here) they are usually made of triangles that make pentagons and hexagons - not squares.
here are a couple of examples - they range from 1-frequency (or 1V) to 7V which indicates maximum size and complexity.

A 1V dome can be about 10-ft in diameter (with a pentagon-shaped base) and all the poles are 5-ft.  Making the poles longer means that they will be weak and not support snow-load or climbing kids.
I've manufactured poles for several 1V domes for forest storage shelters and animal shelters.

I also helped assemble a 4V dome which is 42-ft in diameter used as an event meeting space and helped build a 3V dome with a 36-ft diameter. They are fun to work with/build/use/etc.

Greetings permies.com:
I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; which is about the same latitude as Montana; and will likely not move far as the Grandkids are here.
I have supported 2 of Paul Wheaton's Kick Starters; The Truly Passive Greenhouse  and SKIP.
I have also been reading some of the 'dailyish' posts and links that I receive.
I am not the most computer savvy person around so I likely have missed a fair amount of information and usually have not been available for the ZOOM sessions.
I enjoy the 'movies' on the greenhouse and hope there will be some summarizing information.
Examples could include but not be limited to cross sectional drawings of the structure with dimensions and materials, efforts and resources expended versus benefit and so on.
The current question I have is about the 'COB' on the 'back' wall; Does it continue up over the roof at all? How is the roof insulated?

Switching over to the SKIP book:
Being on a budget I was hoping to 'donate less' than $80 Canadian. What I ended up being able to donate was $25 USD which then had a $25 USD shipping fee. With the currency exchange that comes to just over $60 Canadian. I would be quite willing to receive electronic copies and was trying to figure out how to just donate $50 USD and then I would have all those electronic books and be able to share some with other people that permies.com felt worthy to receive them.

I hope this missive makes sense and that contacting you this way works.
O yes. What is the best way to contact permies.com when I do not know that my missive applies to any particular thread?

Sincerely
Jerry Beattie
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Hi Jerry, your missive is delightful.  I'll focus on the SKIP part of your post.

There are a couple ways to avoid the expensive shipping.  One way is to only back at the $15 level to get the eBook.  The other way is to back at the $65 level or higher and select US Virgin Islands as your location.  Then you need to only select electronic goodies when we send you a survey after the kickstarter.  By doing that you don't have to pay any shipping.

We realize you live in Canada but for purposes of activating the "Free shipping for Electronic Goodies" approach you have to tell kickstarter you're in the Virgin Islands.

Is that relatively clear?  Thanks for backing!!!

Jerry,

For these questions, I would like to suggest that you post to this thread:

https://permies.com/t/141902/permaculture-projects/wofati-greenhouse-design

That way you will get the attention of the people involved in building the greenhouse.

I sent out a monthly-ish

Subject: 3 days left for the SKIP kickstarter

We have broken past $100,000 and cleared 18 stretch goals!   Everybody at the $65 level and up gets the original massive pile of goodies - PLUS:

 - Sepp Holzer's movie "Desert or Paradise" ($10 value)
 - David Pagan Butler's movie "Make a Natural Swimming Pool" ($15 value)
 - Ben Peterson's "Wood Gasifier Builders Bible" as an eBook ($29 value)
 - Mike Oehler's "$50 and Up Underground House Book" as an eBook ($10 value)
 - All 117 hours of the video from Permaculture Voices 1, 2 and 3 ($99 value)
 - Tony Wrench's eBook "A Simple Roundhouse Manual" ($20 value)
 - Leigh Tate's eBook "5 acres and a Dream - the Book" ($10 value)
 - Green Planet Films movie ?Abundance on Dry Land? ($10 value)
 - Michael Judd's webinar "Water Harvesting and Soil Building" ($45 value)
 - Living Woods Magazine - all 55 issues ($35 value)
 - Robert Kourik's eBook "Roots Demystified" ($12 value)
 - Best of Mother Earth News 2018 - 196 pages ($10 value)
 - World Domination Gardening 3-movie set ($28 value)
 - 20 backers get their likeness worked into the illustrations (infinite value)
 - Lynn Gillespie's eBook "High Performance Gardening" ($29)

This is a total value of $360 of bonus goodies!

And, in addition to that, several of the $65 and up people will get event tickets:

 - 6 tickets to the 2021 SKIP event ($1250 value)
 - 6 tickets to the 2021 Permaculture Technology Jamboree ($1650 value)
 - 6 tickets to the 2021 Rocket Mass Heater Jamboree ($1650 value)

If one person got a ticket to each of the three events it would be worth $4550. See the kickstarter FAQ for details on who gets the tickets.

And we have, so far, lined up two more stretch goals:

 - Erica Wisner's Greenhouse Rocket Mass Heater plans ($20 value)
 - Justin Rhodes' movie "Permaculture Chickens" ($29 value)

What an amazing ride!  This has been our best performing kickstarter ever!  And because of that, we have never had such a huge mountain of stretch goals.  Mike and I are in contact with more cool content providers wanting to be part of this adventure!  With just three days left, will we add 3 more stretch goals?  A dozen?

This kickstarter is kinda like our annual fundraiser - the more that comes in, the stronger our forward velocity for the year!  And you get a mountain of spiffy stuff!

Hi! I backed the kickstarter at $15 a a sign of solidarity. Holy moley, who whould have thunk it'd go this high! What ya gonna do with all that $$$?

I really am only interested in rocket mass heaters and how to get one permitted in NY state. You throw in plans and permitting info from other states and I'll bump up my pledge.

thanks!

The email announcement asked for suggestions on additional stretch goals.

The upcoming Truly Passive Greenhouse video would be really cool.

We are having conversations with some authors and publishers.  I think the next stretch goal (at $115k) is an excellent ebook!  Gotta get the images finished.

Mike, the monthly-ish isn't even half done going out.  I think we might hit another stretch goal tonight.   Are we ready?  I know that we have something lined up for $115k, but do we have the graphics and stuff all ready?

I just wanted to say that I think offering all the extra stretch-goal goodies at the $65 level is a much better idea than having them at a higher level.  I just increased my backer level from $1 to $65 based purely on the value (to me) of those extra goodies.  I'm not actually interested in SKIP at all.

"Permaculture Chickens" was the tipping point for me (I consider it an inevitable inclusion).  If we hadn't reached that, I would have stayed at $1.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has placed more value on a particular Kickstarter's stretch goals than the primary offering.  Perhaps more could be converted (in the future) if the threshold was, say, $50 instead of $65?

Just another data point for consideration.

Thank you organisers and contributors, one and all.

Thanks Tim!  Paul and I discussed where to focus the stretch goals and it was a pretty short discussion.  $100 just seemed too high.

I'm glad Justin Rhodes took you over the line.  I'm hoping a few hundred other people feel the same way :)

Just donated. I'm really excited about this book. Plan to donate one of the physical copies to the library of the home school collective we are building out. The kids are all youngsters now but my dream is that they will be well on their way through this program by graduation and hopefully teach some of their wayward parents a thing or two along the way as well
