Ah, that explains it! Thought I'd messed something up and failed to upgrade my original pledge to a higher level.

I just got that email also. After I panicked and checked my level I decided that it was just aimed at those at the lower level. All good

Crap crap crap.  When you're sending a kickstarter update you have to deselect all the levels you don't want to send things to.

I was trying to send helpful notes to people at the lower levels and custom tailor them to each level.  For instance, there are a suspiciously large number of people at $1 who have raised their dollar amount to exactly $65.  So I'm trying to directly let them know about the problem so they can change their backer level to $65 and get the stuff they're expecting.

All I could do at this point is that I edited the update within kickstarter so if people look at it again, it's partially fixed.

Sorry everybody!!!

She's teaching the event!  Her name is Helen Atthowe.  Here's a link to the class:  2022 Garden Master Course

Wasn't that a good clue?  Not too specific but accurate.  Now that the next two are announced I guess we can't play the game for a bit

It shows that I am backing at the $65 dollar level with shipping being $15. However, I am still getting the emails. I have changed my backer level to the $65 dollar level (with additional $15 for shipping and a total of $80), as stated in this thread. It’s kinda frustrating because I don’t see what else I can fo to fix it. Or is it already fixed and I’m just receiving emails I shouldn’t be receiving?
Please can someone help me?! I truly want to receive all of the goodies.
Thank you, Sam

Mike Haasl wrote:I'm at $65 but I'm not at $65???

Some people have raised their dollar amount but didn't change their backer level.  Unless you fix that you won't get all the stuff you're expecting.  Here's how to correctly increase your backer level (a huge thanks to Jane Mulberry for putting this together):

First click on Manage Your Pledge:

Then click on Change Your Pledge:

Then DON'T just change the dollar amount in the pledge level you're currently at!  Scroll down to the level you want to upgrade to and click anywhere in that box:

Then you can check your shipping location.  Either select your actual country to have all the physical book options, OR select US Virgin Islands to get FREE SHIPPING for ebooks only.

Sam, I messed up.  That update should have only gone to the $25 people but I missed a checkbox and it went to everybody.  Which totally confused the situation that I was trying to unconfuse.  Not my best day.

You are at the right level, please ignore that update

Sorry Mike.

It was my idea.

There are a bunch of people that put money in, but selected no backer level.   For the better world book, a lot of those people were certain that they selected a backer level.  So this time I thought it would be wise to say "hey, you know that you are putting money in but getting nothing in return?"

Once that was done, there were a lot of people signed up for the $1 level that were putting in $1.  Similar message.

Etc. etc.

The idea is that you can send an update that goes just to people at a specific backer level.   So I thought we were being smart.

And the I said "I think we should do it for the $25 level too - there are people there that ...." -- you get the idea.

I thought it would be a helpful thing.

I hate to say this, but I think you’ve got another problem. The $120,000 Stretch Goal on Kickstarter says the tickets are for the 2021 Garden Master Event, but if you click on it you are taken to the posting for the 2022 event.

I receive your $25 backer level email when I shouldn't have. Also, I noticed that the banner for the 120k goal should have the year 2022, not 2021.

I've also been weilding my elven hammer and forging this graphic. I really wanted to find a way to show the broad extent of the rewards. I'm not quite sure if I'm pleased with the layout (my kids kept needing me while I was working on it). I'd love input!

Hi there!
I know it is all exciting and a bit stressful for you'll, but I want to shed some good news and pose a question:
After receiving the update that I am at $25 level  (I know, I know that was part mistake, but nevertheless) I went to Kickstarter to check and realized that I have two accounts there. I suspected it for some time but never was thorough enough to do something about it. This campaign motivated me to address this issue: I backed at least one (may be more) Paul's project from my gmail account and 4 campaigns from yahoo account. Moreover, I have 2 accounts on permies as well with yahoo one from 2015. So after that email (Fix your pledge!) I was able to figure things out and actually tie my $65 pledge to the Kickstarter yahoo account that supported most of the Paul Wheaton campaigns
My question is even though I know it is my mess, I truly want to visit one of the events at Wheaton Labs and may be considering my two accounts combined I would have a chance?
Thank you so much for doing all amazing things that you do!
Best wishes,
Nataly

I'm not exactly sure how to add the two accounts together, or how Paul selects the winners. Maybe in the form that comes after the kickstarter, you can put in some info about the two accounts?

One thing that will help on the permies end is to go to your profile settings and add the other email to your account as a secondary email.

(If you accidentally ended up with two accounts, with one automatically created by permies, just PM me the other account or email, and I'll merge both permies account together!)

Jane made a great tutorial HERE. I'll quote it for ease:

Jane Mulberry wrote:Here's how I upped my backer level:

Go to the Kickstarter and log in. Top right corner shows "Manage your pledge". Click there. Next page has a couple of blue buttons, one to change payment method, and the next one down is the one you want. Clicking that takes you to a page with all the different pledge levels. Just clcik the level you want to upgrade to. Note the third screenshot shows where to click. If you just change the $ amount in the box, that means you are giving more money but staying at the same pledge level. The place to click is the tiny barely visible circle in the top left corner of the box for your desired level. MIne shows the tick where I clicked. It's almost invisible till it's clicked!

That's how it looks on my Chromebook running Chrome, could look difgerent on other devices and browsers.

Click on Change Your Pledge

Click anywhere in the rectangle with the description for the level you want to upgrade to.

The tickets are assigned as follows.  First people are asked if they want to go to each event.  All the "Yes" responses are then put in order by the amount you paid into this kickstarter.  The highest 6 get the tickets.  Does that help?

You probably aren't. Apparently the buttons for sending out updates are really confusing. Mike thought he was sending an update to just the $25 level, and it accidently went out to everyone.

But, it's a good reason to double check what kickstarter says you are, and make sure kickstarter website says you're at the $85 level!

So I had also upgraded to the $65 level and just got an email that I am only at $25 level. I found the post on changing my pledge and went to "manage my pledge" and it shows me at the $65 level.

Why did i get that e mail?

Thanks

I would think so. I now have to pay an extra USD30 for postage even if it is just{still} one book. Just bite the bullet and think of it as early Christmas shopping. Someone up there might have plans for your extra books so I watch and wait for signs.

To the staff and admins, high time to have some sort of UNDO for mistaken posts/replies. My inbox is getting inundated with repeated updates. I am gonna unwatch for one whole day.

I don't believe there's anyway to delete an email that's already sent. It seems like kickstarter (which we have no control over) sends out the updates instantly, so there's no way to stop it after it's been sent. One can only say sorry.

With our dailyish/weeklyish/monthlyish, it actually does take time for us to mail out to everyone. It takes about 4 hours for the dailyish to go out to everyone, 7 hours to go out to everyone on the weeklyish, and 10 hours for a monthlyish to go out. So, if we notice something is wrong with those, we can stop the mailing. We can't do anything about those who already received the email, of course, but we can stop it from going out to others. I don't think we have any such powers when sending updates through kickstarter's program.

I feel really, really bad for Mike. Through this whole kickstarter, he has been fantastic about finding spelling, accuracy, and grammar errors. He's proofread every single one of my graphics, and caught so many errors. I know he tries really hard for everything to be just right. And I think that makes it even worse that this error happened to him.

I guess it goes to show that even Mike is human!

I should be sleeping, but instead I'm thinking about my little slice of homesteading paradise, and how I want everyone else to have one, too!

I really love that SKIP kickstarter has such a comprehensive breadth of rewards that really cover a lot of the SKIP aspects (woodworking, natural building, nest, food preservation, food production, cooking, solar, rocket technology, earthworks, and a lot more!)

Wow , There are a million kids going to die of malaria, starvation, and neglect today.  The fact that a box did not get ticked is not a biggy in the world scheme.  But onward and upward with SKIP.  really looking forward to 4th of May to find a big bag of goodies.  Thanks one and all for your hard work and stretch goals.  Love your art work Nicole.  Would like one of your sketches as a stretch.  Just putting it out there?

Finally see a mention about the kickstarter in Justin Rhodes email I got this morning at 6:11. It’s a blurb at the bottom, but maybe it will generate  some attention. I’ve been wondering why I haven’t seen more support for Paul and his book from some of the people I follow in this space. Where’s Marjory Wildcraft? You had a book from Lynn Gillespie, where is her email blurb?

Mike, you’ve done an amazing job and your email got people looking again and making sure their pledges were right. So mission accomplished!
