I'm pretty sure it was a big help.  But I wouldn't mind hearing some feedback from backers.

I didn’t realize that the list of “bird” goodies was changing.  I recall (maybe in a brainstorming thread or during a greenhouse zoom) that the list would grow and if you signed up on day one then you would get everything and if you signed up on day three you would have missed out on the items from day 1 and 2 but would get everything that comes out on/after day 3. Etc.   I think how you did it with the big list at the beginning might be more enticing and easier to convey/understand.

Scare people or not, how cool is it to be immortalized as a cartoon in a book like this?!!
Any estimates on the current number of books that will be printed?  Then we can calculate how little it could cost per print of our mugs!

Luckily the illustrators are extremely skilled at making us look good.  Just check out how they made me look good at the end of the video.

I predict we'll print somewhere between 5,000 and 50,000 copies.  It's really hard to tell with the info we currently have from Kickstarter.  Of course if things really take off we'll print 5,000,000

I have been following the forums for a while now but had never done a Kickstarter before. Happy to post that I have taken the plunge to support the skip book at the $65 level and look forward to becoming more active on this site and using the things I have learned here on our homestead!

Welcome to the party bus (celebration thread)!

I just to check in with people, is there some sort of communication detail that we're forgetting to mention?  For those who just backed or bumped your level to $65, was there something that we could have told you earlier that would have made it "click" for you?  So if we say that magical thing now, lots more people will get on the kickstarter in the last 11 days?

The incredible value of what a person receives for their money has sold me. I was in for a buck day 1, then $65 when I seen the value, and now I upped to $100. The value is tremendous when you put all of it together.

Thanks Keith!  So could we  be saying that in a better way?

It does seem like a really awesome deal.  I realize many people don't have $65 laying around for this, but there are a surprising number of people at the $45 level who would get so much more for that added $20.

A simplified image that lays it out might help. You kind of have to dig to put all the incredible value together in your head... and I had to use a calculator as well.

I'm going to try for a simplified image tomorrow. My first attempt ended up being simple...but HUGE! But, I think it does a good job of conveying the value that the $65 level has. That's neatly $450 dollars worth of goodness, for only $65!

Man, when you see it all together it really does show the incredible value.
It's also a perfect permaculture intro with all you get!
Great job Nicole!

We just hit our $95,000 stretch goal! SCORE! That means our next stretch goal is for $100,000!!!

I love how the stretch goal rewards really cover a broad range of permaculture and homesteading skills. There's gardening, wood gassifiers, rocket stoves, gardening, house building, woodworking, soil restoration, greening the desert, natural swimming pools, and more. SKIP is about learning permaculture and homesteading skills, and these are some fantastic resources!

Woo hoo!  We hit $95k on Earth Day!!!

The next stretch goal is a really good one for the $100,000 goal.  It's Lynn Gillespie's "High Performance Gardening" eBook and it comes with 3 additional guides on pests, soil and trellises.

Lynn runs The Living Farm and has been instructing people in organic gardening for decades.

I wonder if we can get to $100k yet today?  Two stretch goals for Earth Day?  too much...?

Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

Nicole is faster than me but I'll leave this post up since it's such a good stretch goal

Isn't there something about "behind every good man is an even better woman and behind every good woman is a bloke wondering what has just happened?"

Just so overwhelmed with the success of this SKIP Kickstarter. And the soup out of A year in an OFF GRID KITCHEN is on the stove and getting ready for dinner - Another Kick Ass Kickstarter.

Why would you want to be involved with those Greenies? (don't you just love that word and the way it is sneered out of a twisted mouth?) - More important question and GET IT RIGHT!! why would you not be a contributor or reader of Permies.com and this kickstarter?  Leave a better environment for our kids.
OK,OK off the soap box.  What have I got that I don't need and can sell so I can get ALL the goodies? Looking to crack the ton. :-) So crack on

I don't know--Mike's pretty awesome! He usually gets to these stretch goals and updates before me. I just got lucky this time, having just come inside from being outside with my kids. I was surprised to see we'd made $95,000 and that I'd beaten Mike and Paul to the update!

Ha ha, wait till you get a little older, you might think differently about it. You’re still a baby😁.

Ps: you know I’m not saying that with any maliciousness, quite the opposite. I’m so happy to see young people doing great things, like you do!

Hey Folks,

I'm pretty sure this issue was addressed in one of the Skip emails or similar, but I can't for the life of me find the answer.

I want to raise my backer level from 10 bucks to 65. However, I don't want physical copies of the book (as I live in europe and it would cost about the same again to mail them, plus I live in a yurt, so loads of extra physical books clogging up the place I don't need). How can I raise my backer level but let kickstarter know that I'll be opting for the all digital option?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan! Just choose the “Virgin Islands, U.S.” option - they made it $0 specifically for digital-only folks
