Here’s the recipe, Nicole. I will come back in a few weeks and post a picture of the strained and bottled tincture—just made it today and didn’t realize it needed to be finished tincturing for the BB. Thanks!

- the journal page showing your recipe and dosage information for the oregano leaf tincture

Gladly!

- picture of the oregano leaf, freshly harvested by you

Not only is it freshly harvested, I could stand to take a weed whacker to it.

- picture of the tincture being made

I mean, it's pouring vodka from one bottle into another.

My oregano tincture was ready to strain today, so  hopefully I've got everything to complete this BB.

Gathering fresh oregano to make the tincture.

Oregano page from my herb journal.

Directions for making oregano tincture and dosage.

Once I got started, I realized I needed to switch to a larger jar.

Six weeks later and ready to strain.

Oregano tincture strained and bottled.

Oregano tincture is something that I've been using in the winter for a few years. why? Yet another way to use those fresh garden herbs grew! Plus, i love tinctures! I made this 2 months ago but it's recommended to tincture herbs a minimum of 30 days, I prefer 6 to 8 weeks. I also use everclear but dilute to 40% in bottle after straining because it's too strong for my taste.
I put the tinctures side by side to see the difference in color between tinctures.

I just finished decanting my oregano tincture. I let it steep for 2 weeks. The oregano lost a lot of its colour.

I harvested the oregano from my herb bed, picked over, washed and put in a jar with Vodka. I set my self a daily reminder to shake the jar.
Two weeks later, I decanted into a beaker with a small sieve. Then, I washed and dried the jar, before pouring back the finished tincture.

Here are my photos.

Fresh leaf oregano tincture.

The process for tinctures I found was almost silly in its simplicity. Add leaf to spirits. Wait,
I love it. Low input - high yield!

What impressed me the most, though, was the beautiful emerald tint in the tincture - tinctillating!

I made a favorite of mine to have on hand during the winter months, oregano elixir! Using oregano from our garden, mostly-blackberry honey from our neighbors and 100-proof vodka.
Since elixirs are the sweetened version of tinctures I hope this still counts. If not, no worries, I still thought it is worth sharing here!

For this BB you will create a tincture out of oregano leaf.
To show you've completed this BB you must post pictures of the following:

- picture of the oregano leaf, freshly harvested by you
- picture of the tincture being made
- picture of the finished tincture in its labeled jar.

I will post back here once I decant this in August!

I made an oregano leaf tincture using fresh leaves. I let it steep for 4 weeks, shaking every other day. I followed the tincture directions in the book The Healing Garden by Juliet Blankespoor. We plan to take a few droppers of this daily in the winter months.

I made oregano tincture! I harvested fresh oregano from my garden, washed it, chopped it finely with scissors, and left it to steep in a jar of 80 proof rye vodka for about 5 weeks in a dark cupboard, shaking occasionally. I used parchment paper under the lid to prevent corrosion. I strained it and bottled it in dropper bottles. I was surprised by the dark color and pleasantly intense aroma of the finished tincture.

P.S:
My mother has a cold coming on with sore throat, so I gave her a dropper of this in water to gargle and swallow. She says it tastes very good, fresh and herbal.
