This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

For this BB, you will create an infusion of lemon balm leaf. Infusion is a method of extracting desired compounds from plant material by steeping the material in hot or cold water, depending on the plant and its attributes.

To show you’ve completed this Badge Bit, you must post:
- a picture of your lemon balm leaf being harvested
- a picture of the infusion being made
- a picture of the finished infusion

This is day three of starting my day with an infusion.

I bought a lemon balm plant back in March, took a bunch of cuttings and propagated in a glass of water. I ended up with a dozen plants, six went into pots and have been harvested all summer. The other six went in a patch of gravel at the back of my tiny veg garden. There is almost no soil and the gravel sits on the subsoil here which is more gravel, silt and cobbles. I just left it and it thrived!

I picked a handful and seeped for a good 20 minutes until it was warm and lovely to drink. Made a lovely tea, light and lemony and refreshing with no trace of bitterness.

Hey Skip team, I needed some heartache relief tonight. So I went for my lemon balm patch. I picked, infused and drank it. There's probably something more healing in the pursuit and intention than in the tea. Oh well, either way.

I went traipsing through my neglected garden today and was glad to see the lemon balm was still alive. It's been awhile since I've made lemon balm tea.

We have plenty of Lemon Balm growing around the property and it is time to cut it back after receiving a bunch of rain over last couple weeks.

My daughter and I have decided to have lemon balm tea to celebrate Shabbat. It’s hot here so once infused we will add ice. My daughter adds agave… lol I’m thinking about that..

For this BB, I actually made a dried lemon balm infusion because I really prefer the flavor that way. I drink lemon balm tea before bed most nights, such a relaxing beverage!

So I'm including pictures of:

- the lemon balm leaf I'm about to harvest from my hugelbed
- the harvested leaf spread out to dry on a rack
- the big jar I keep dried lemon balm in, ready to make tea
- the herb infusing
- the finished infusion

Thanks!

I made a lemon balm tea with lemon balm that I harvested and dried. I'll let it steep a little longer next time, but it's very good!

An easy one, as I have lemon balm tea daily.

Lemon balm tea to help with the head cold. I hope. First submission timed out so hopefully this isn’t a dupe.
