This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Electricity.

In this Badge Bit, you will put a new end on an extension cord.  Why would you ever do this?  Maybe the cord got damaged near the end and you don't mid it becoming shorter.  Or you need to build an extension cord.  Or a tool has a damaged cord near the plug.  Let's fix it!

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - put a new end on an extension cord, build an extension cord or replace the end on a tool's cord.

The homemade extension cord I was using had too big an end on it to fit into the weatherproof outlet that it needed to plug into.  So I got a more sleek plug and changed it out.

this wire came from a power transformer. it had no male end. Only one female end. So i found a used male end and put it onto this wire to make it one usable extension cord.

I've had this 50 ft 12 gauge limber extension cord for quite a long time and it has developed two issues: first, the cord jacket broke away from the three prong female end of the cord exposing the electrical wires, and second, inside the female connectors started to short/burn/arc inside the clear plastic. So it was definitely time to replace the end.

I have a bunch of extension leads with UK plugs and a bunch of three pin USB chargers.
I decided to replace the UK plug with a US plug so I could reuse the USB chargers which are rated for 100 - 240v.
I trimmed and cleaned up the wire ends so they were a better fit.

Here's a picture of the back of the strip indicating that it's rated to a maximum of 230v which is greater than 110v. I hope that meets with the requirements. I appreciate I'm stretching the boundaries a little.

Note: Technically it's not an extension cord but it effectively the same thing. I'm willing to risk being overruled on that but mostly wanted to be sure it was safe first. Good to go unless someone else decides in not extension cordy enough.

I just recently come back from Europe and was using this extension cord as a converter since both Aus and Europe uses near enough to the same voltage. It is no 50% useless so let's change one side and make it 100% useful!

So it isn't exactly an extension cord, but it is a cord...does this count? The principles are the same- I had to strip wires, use a screwdriver and make a clamped connection.

The replacement is a cord I salvaged from a broken airfryer.

I keep putting new ends on cords and keep not submitting them for this BB.  Let me finally submit one!  I was at my girlfriends place and she wanted to get things set up so she could plug her mig welder into the 220 outlet she has for her clothes dryer.  That needed not only an extension so the welder would be out the side door of the garage, but also a different style of 220 plug end.  

I submit this for consideration.

Since the straw version of this badge needs more from the sand list and some duplicates are allowed I'm going submit this second shorter 220V cord I also changed an end on for my girlfriends clothes dryer/welder outlet project.  Naturally she didn't really want to have to pull the dryer out to get at the plug every time she wanted to use the welder.  This required another short extension/adaption to get an easily accessible plug and make the appropriate plug adaptions.  Here is my work for that.
